I've been out on both of mine a few times this year. Although not as much as I would have liked. The MSX passed its first MOT no bother, although the mechanical, being the helpful type, adjusted the clutch before bringing it back to me. I intentionally leave the clutch with a lot of play since with my small hands the reach when it is fully tightned to spec is right at my hand spans limit. I felt like a learner again when I got back on it!

Added adjustable leavers to the wish list when I got home.... :rolleyes:

Thankfully I got a beautiful day for the MOT, the previous day it was snowing!

These are really popular bikes, got 2 guys with them at work. Stick a custom exhaust on them and they sound aggressive af! They're lovely.

Are you tall? Heard they arent great for the tall.

 

I'm sub 6ft so should be ok ?

This is my current steed. Honda VFR800FiX - Not bad for a bike that is going to be 18 years old this year. Still less than 20,000 on the clock. I do enjoy it, but VFR's have a reputation of being a little..... dare I say it.... boring! I do miss the Suzuki V-Strom DL-1000 that I had previously and must admit I'm wanting to go back to something similar. But this does me fine for when the sun is shining!

The VFR is not my kind of bike (too plastic fantastic for me) however I do see a lot of them on the roads up here, of various ages, so they must be doing something right for people! Your's still looks brand new from that picture @FragglePete !

I try to look after it, but it didn't fair too well this year during it's hibernation. A fair bit of rot and corrosion has crept in a little bit along with the front brakes had seized on. An hour spent taking the calipers off, brake cleaner, an old toothbrush and some copper grease has got everything work properly again and then even better once I flushed out the old brake fluid.

 

VFR's are great 'do it all' bikes, plenty of grunt but not too much, lovely smooth V4 engines and very neutral handling. The Combined Braking System takes a bit of getting used too as the bike squats rather than dives under heavy braking. I had a VFR750FT a while back which I kept for 9 years in total. Could do with a louder exhaust as it sounds like demented sewing machine when wound up. ;)

Any views on Triumph Tigers? I'm sort of tempted by a change. Probably fairly recent versions...

If they weren't so ludicrously huge it'd be my dream bike, I can't even tap the ground on an unlowered one!

Which tiger are you looking at? , I've got an 800 that I can't fault absolutely brilliant bike.
800 is front runner. XC if I can find one at the right price. (And sell my current ride!)

I actually prefer bikes that brake like that to be honest. One of the reasons I'd like a big BWM (with the Telelever front suspension) is because of the lack of diving when heavy breaking.

 

Any views on Triumph Tigers? I'm sort of tempted by a change. Probably fairly recent versions...

 

I love the tigers, however I found them too top heavy (I am short though). That and the price compared to a similarly spec'ed BMW F700gs was too much...

I'm flip flopping whether to sell my bike or not. Don't think I enjoy it enough to justify keeping it. I don't have time to ride it, because at the weekends I'd rather be out walking the dog and stuff..... argh!
