We will be replacing our 6 Year old Server 2008 Standard 32 bit tower server which is running a .local domain that was imported from Server 2003 over the summer of 2015. I'm a lone tech on a weekly contract of under 30 HPW in the school. KS3/4 Special for unde 100 behaviourally challenged / emotionally disturbed boys. I'm looking for recommendations on the way to go - especially toward training for myself. Our clients are currently Windows 7 Pro and some Macs. Edited by Dos_Box

Thanks @Devontechie it's running just about every IT service we have in the school everything apart from MIS and the bits the MiniMac server runs. We have a second DC which is the same sort of tin but running 2008 R2 64 bit and that machine backs up to a removable HD it also serves as a print server for various machines that the first DC isn't picking up.

I'm glad this came up. I've had a look at the NEOS website and it looks promising (especially with the education deal!). I'll sound out the head and bursar about funds for CPD and then I'll be in touch. :D

This sounds like a job for the team at NEOS, we’ve worked with them for over 5 years now. In particular Lee Oakley, the man’s nothing short of a demi-god in my eyes.

I was taught the NEOS Server 2012 Administration course by Alan Hutt...the man's a legend at the company I work for!

Definitely go with NEOS, you get unlimited tea/coffee while you learn and you also get (or at least you did a year ago) lunch at the Farriers Arms around the corner included in the cost of your course!

Thanks for the recommendation. It's always good to get responses from people who have used a service. I'm convinced, just need to convince the keepers of the purse-strings.

Alan Hutt is scheduled to deliver all the Worcester public Windows Server courses in the next 6 months as well as the courses we are running out of Cheshire and Shropshire in Feb.

Just had an email hit my desk that runs through a new government grant that anyone who works for an organisation in IT and is based in England, can apply for. .

Can you send me some info about that so I can check if there is something similar in Wales we can access? Cheers!

Hi All,

I will start responding to you all today.

Can you all drop me an email, with what topics you're looking at for training? I will send you back a breakdown of what we offer in courses, pricing and the grant info.....

You need all of this to apply.

My email is: [email protected]

For those of you in Wales, let me double check that i cant access this grant for you as well!!!

I've just had the first grants from schools accepted.

Lee
