Hi!

Any views on a good robust Finance Package for a Multi Academy? The package we are using, although good, appears not to be suited to the multi academy environment, so any views/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Matt

We are an academy and own several nurseries and out of school clubs - we are using Sage 50 payroll and sage accounts. Each out of school club and nusery have there own company setup in sage and work perfect

We use Sage 200, we aren't a multi academy but it will the job what you need if you setup multiple companies and accounts for each organisation.

PS Financials is the package of choice at the MAT where I am a director/governor

The Finance Director put a few of them through their paces before choosing.

We've just moved over from FMS to Sage 50 and although I can't comment on how it well it works etc, the Finance Director likes it as do the finance department (after a bit of weening off FMS )

It was a doddle to install and set up and is apparently a proper Finance Package!

Sage 50 is what we use in my independent school and the support is brilliant. Not sure how it would perform for a MAT environment which requires the accounts for multiple businesses (the schools) to be drawn into a single set of figures for reporting purposes.

The Finance Director of my governor MAT discounted it as not having the features she needed

Correro here as well, its pretty nice to administer as its just a SQL system.

Not sure about the actual finance stuff though but our department seem to get on ok with it.

Correro here as well which seems to work pretty well have all Budget holders managing own budgets on this but can delegate some spending authority to members of there Department been using this for four years now and is pretty stable. Seems to work well with good reporting features, emails staff automatically if something needs dealing with. SQL backend with web based front end. The Finance Department in this schools and a few Academies in the Borough seem to like it.

As a multi-despartment company we currently use Sage 50.

The user experience is terrible, there's not a single person who likes it (including our accounting team). It's not really advanced much from the original design and seems antiquated and annoying.

Sure it'll do what you want, but it takes a bit of wrangling to do it. The fact that everybody needs to log out so the Financial Controller can sort out the monthly VAT returns and any other administrative tasks harms productivity and is a huge annoyance when you're in the middle of something and the other person is on a limited timescale.

We're moving to NAV soon (which i know is more ERP than simple accounts) but it cannot come soon enough!
