I am working on our windows 10 group policies and I have configured something that is causing a problem with the windows 10 start menu. When I click the start button or press the windows button on the keyboard nothing happens, it does not appear. I have narrowed it down to the attached policy. Does anyone know what is causing it? Hi, I am trying to use AppLocker to prevent access to some Windows 10 Apps. I have configured the AppLocker as per my screen case: App Locker - JHartSMS's library But it is still allowing me to access them. Any ideas ? John

Hi All, I am working on our Windows 10 Group Policies at the moment and am currently having a problem with managed software deploying over group policy. I am using the same policy for Windows 7 as I know this works and it is all the same software to be deployed. But all packages fail to install, I get a "Network access is denied" message when I run a GP results wizard on the machine (see screen print). Does anyone know how I overcome this problem ? We use WSUS, I think I have got to the bottom of the problem now. We have recently been testing Adobe Acrobat Reader DC in this room. This package has been trying to update and causing this.

Hi, One of our classrooms is having machines randomly shutdown unannounced. They do shutdown correctly. I can see in the event logs that the error is from USER32 "The attempt by user DOMAIN\USER to restart/shutdown computer COMPUTERNAME failed" Has anyone ever had this before ? John EventLogs.zip

Hello Fellow Edugeekers! I'm thinking of deploying one machine on our domain with Windows 10. just to see what it is like etc with our software such as Serif, Office 2013 and more crucial some old packages like ProDesktop. Does anyone know if our current windows 7 policy will work with Windows 10 ? We are running 100% server 2012 r2 and I think there will be compatibility problems Thanks John

Hi All, Just wanted to write a quick post to inform everyone about a unique piece of software that is quite hidden away. A small company called Modus Interactive develop a computer management system (they call it a framework) that allows for running of common tasks and scripts. I would say it is a bit like impero but I think it is a stronger platform because it is not aimed to education and is a very flexible solution. Its broken down into the following main componants. Management - Running of common tasks and scheduling of tasks. Reports - Gives detailed hardware reports. This is handy for us because it allows us to export our inventory. PXE - Use can use this to boot a Pre-OS (WinPE) environment to perform OS deployments or imaging. Power Profiling - I believe this is sold as an extra plugin but it has saved us thousands of pounds a year. See our case study PC Driver Management - Mainly for PC building but is really good for keeping all drivers up to date. Software Deployment - Best solution I have ever seen for running silent installs from them annoying EXE installers. It is a perfect solution for us because we are a school that can't really afford to go VDI and we have common tasks that we use such as profile deleting and remote takeover. The Modus team are also extremely helpful its like having the developer onsite with us. It's hard to explain how awesome and cheap this platform is but honestly I am in no way affected with them and I am promoting it. Checkout modus interactive - Home Screen prints:
