Garacesh Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Watched Star Wars 7 on the plane at the weekend. Really enjoyed it - the only thing i didn't like about is was Kylo Ren and I'm not sure if it's the actor, the character or just that he's not darth vader but that was literally the only bit of it I didn't think was brilliant. I feel the same way - I don't know if I disliked Kylo because Adam Driver is a terrible actor, or if I disliked Kyro because Adam Driver is an amazing actor.

Adam Driver is a good actor I think, he's been good in the other stuff I've seen him in. Kylo Ren is just a whiny little child, he makes Luke Skywalker look not whiny.

Maybe if he kept the mask on it might have worked better and just had a decent voice over actor for the speaking parts. I seem to recall they managed to create an excellent villain that way before
Domo Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Seen two films at the pictures recently, Warcraft and Me before You. Warcraft - I've played the games for 10 years or so, I can see how people who haven't played the game could get totally lost when watching this but i don't think it deserved what all the Critics gave it. Was still very enjoyable for me. Me before you - Obviously not my pick of film, but it wasn't bad, quite funny all the way through really. The ending was a bit Naff in my opinion though, could've been done better.

We've always been told the Dark side is about passion and letting go, but had no-one who showed even the slightest trace of it. Yes, he's childish, spoilt and wimpy... as is the entire First Order. Hux is hardly old enough to be a general, especially compared to the bridge of the first Death Star, so I think it's deliberate. I also expect Kylo is going to have the biggest arc across the films, and he needs to start at this point to have room to grow. Personally I reckon he's made himself a Light Side agent, and is trying to bring down the Dark Side from within (hence his speech with his Papa on the bridge), and the trilogy will be about his redemption.

Perhaps, yes. And I do agree with it about the Dark Side being about passion.. You only ever see Dark Side practitioners get emotional when it's anger (I mean, I think they tried to show that with Hayden Christensen, he was clearly rebellious and guided by his emotion and his feelings for Padmé, which developed into both emotional pain and vengefulness.. But his acting was just so awful it rendered it all redundant.) so it's nice to see someone battling with an emotional conflict, and using emotional pain, not just anger. I think overall Kylo's character was done well, maybe you're right about the mask. Keeping the mask on would have made him much more menacing.. But taking it off showed he was still young and not in control of his feelings, so I think it worked in a way, too.

Kinda depressing until it eventually all turns out OK. Probably only worth a watch if you're a big fan of stars Penelope Cruz, Susan Sarandon or Paul Walker. Independence Day: Resurgence They're back. You know what to expect from the trailer. Lacks the "wow" factor of the original (it's just as spectacular, but we are now used to seeing such spectacle). Worth a look if you like this sort of thing, but it's not great cinema.

If they were taking most of the ticket price why would the ticket prices go up, they'd be charging £1 for a ticket and selling food everywhere. Not like they're paying for projectionists or ticket sellers any more, all robots now. If they stopped selling popcorn they could save loads on paying cleaners. Distributor isn't paying for making film copies either (£1000/copy), just reusing hdds.

I'm going to assume it isn't done as a percentage (so that it couldn't be abused in such a way) but instead is a fixed-figure.
