zag Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 For the students Pro Plus licenses I just asked Capita/Ramesys and they sorted it in a few hours with 900 new licenses. I'm hoping the staff works the same.
beany1 Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) I purchased our EES agreement through Phoenix, emailed them yesterday asked them for the free office proplus licenses for staff. They added this to our license agreement and it shows up on VLSC under Online Services Activation, once you click the link from that page you need to sign in with your organisation account and it adds the number of licenses you requested. That's what I did and it worked so staff have the ability to download office proplus. In VLSC there is a tab named "Online Service Activation" once your reseller adds the license it will show up there, you click it and it will link to your Office 365 tenant, once its linked you get a new set of licenses on your office 365 for Office ProPlus.

But what about for schools who don't have an Office 365 tenant? No current Office 365 Education tenant If you do not have Office 365 Education and have no current plans to rollout Office 365 Education you can leverage option 2 (‘sign up yourself’) to provide Office at no additional charge for your students. The benefit is the school or campus does not need to really do anything to make this work as it is fully student ‘sign up yourself’ option. If at a later point, IT wants to gain control of this ‘sign up yourself’ tenant this option is available. See the FAQ for more details on an institution taking over a ‘sign up yourself’ tenant under ‘manage a tenant created by my students’ section. Option 2) Sign up yourself Office 365 ProPlus benefit – this is what is launched today where customers without Office 365 Education tenants can provide students an option to obtain Office 365 ProPlus without having IT setup a tenant, without having to obtain licenses from a reseller, and without having IT having to assign Office 365 ProPlus licenses to users. Existing Office 365 Education tenants can also use sign up yourself for auto-account creation and/or auto-assignment of Office 365 ProPlus licenses to users for easier enablement. There is no mention in the MS blurb that says schools themselves have to already be using Office 365 - so "adding it to our tenant" is not going to do anything, as we don't have one. From the details MS have released, it looks like its supposed to be that staff can self register and get it without our input, but we have to have registered our institution somehow. Can someone provide some form of clear instructions to this, without mention of "tenants" for those of us who don't use Office 365 already...

Choose Teachers and follow it through. However, how you get to be on the eligible list, I don't know. I wonder if Microsoft have added schools yet? Reading the blurb, it should require no interaction from the school to 'register' themselves and that form should just work. From what I can remember this is for the US only and not the UK as we don't use the correct domain name extensions for staff email addresses... it has to be .gov.com or something like that. Of course I could have forgotten what I read a few months back and be totally wrong

tj2419 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 My license provider has now retracted what he said originally and directed us to the portal where staff sign up but like others we are getting the, you are not on the eligible list. How do we get on there?

Cheers There is a product code they need to add to your agreement. Let me see what I can find out. It's definitely something they have to do, they process it like a normal MS order then MS email you to let you know it's added to your account and link you to a portal to approve it. 1
