Have you got an existing Office 365 tenant?

Not for the domain that staff use (i.e. school.county.sch.uk).

 

We do have Office 365 setup on a separate domain for students and that is recognized.

 

I thought you didn't necessarily have to have Office 365 in order to be eligible though? :confused:

 

Option 2) Sign up yourself Office 365 ProPlus benefit – this is what is launched today where customers without Office 365 Education tenants can provide students an option to obtain Office 365 ProPlus without having IT setup a tenant, without having to obtain licenses from a reseller, and without having IT having to assign Office 365 ProPlus licenses to users. So basically, the easiest way to get the free Office 365 for your staff, would be to sign your school up for Office 365, even if you don't plan on using it! :p

 

Yes - get it and just do authentication / single sign on as then you control the licenses and the offerings to staff and students.

We have finally got the O365 Pro Plus licenses added to our staff and students.

 

They were added around Wednesday last week, and am getting the following error

 

"Sorry...

 

 

We can't sign you up right now because we can't verify your school is on our list of eligible institutions. Check back in a few days to see if your school is eligible.

And just in case: look for typos in the email address you entered. That could be the problem."

@Arthur did yours ever show up in the end? Does it take a while or do I need to do something else.

Unfortunately not. :(

 

I decided to give up (for the moment at least) since it was driving me mad.

 

The domain we use for staff doesn't currently have the Office 365 Education E1 plan and when I log into Office 365 it's not possible to add it under "Purchase Services" either.

 

I have also tried signing up for a trial of E3 but just get this message...

 

Sorry, you can’t add that to your current account

Office 365 Education E3 for Faculty Trial, Office 365 Education E3 for Students Trial doesn’t work with the subscriptions you already have. You need to sign up with a new account.

 

I don't really want to use a different account so I'm not sure how to get this fixed? :confused:

 

When I run the Get-MsolAccountSku PowerShell cmdlet all I see listed is this:

Thanks Arthur, I've found that if I login to email online and click on the Office 365 link it takes me to the install Office page, and here I can manage the 5 installs etc.

 

So the licenses are applied and working. Not sure why its not working on the Office Education page.

 

MS licensing confuses the hell out of me so good luck with your issue :D

I've got the 'Activate Online Services' link which is taking me to a login page; I've signed up for Office365 using the Teacher/Student links given above, and it's now letting me at the page with 'Start activation' for the three orders I've got pending - but the links take me to an Office365-styled page with an obscure coded error saying I haven't got permissions.

 

Has anyone else had this?

Sorry to bring an old thread back from it's slumber, however, I've had some luck with this! At the BETT show, I visited the Microsoft stand and managed to get in touch with the person who can add schools to the eligible domain list, therefore allowing all your staff to self sign up for Office 365 and download Office 2016 on to up to 5 of their devices. I have now set this up for the 2 schools that I look after and it is working wonderfully. He requested that I don't share his details online, however, I'm happy to email him with a list of email domains if anyone wants to enable Office 365 downloads for their staff. If you want to be added to the list, please send me a PM and I'll email it through to him! Edited by Zoom7000

I finally managed to sort it. :)

 

Staff and students were on separate Office 365 tenants so we had to combine them into a single tenant, assign the appropriate licenses to users (STANDARDWOFFPACK_IW_STUDENT and STANDARDWOFFPACK_IW_FACULTY) and then it worked.

Can I just clarify something.

 

We have an OVS-ES agreement for Office. We use 365 with the free student and faculty licences. Should we be entitled to get the ProPlus licences added to our 365 tenant for free?

Indeed you should, just need to request them from your reseller :)

Thanks, I thought that's how it was but you know when you read MS licencing over and over it turns your brain to mush.

Shouldn't Microsoft have added the "Office 365 Education Plus for students/faculty" licenses to all Office 365 Education tenants? There shouldn't be any need to involve a reseller. :confused:

 

Ideally you will want the licenses highlighted in red, rather than purple because the former are both unlimited.

Wasn't the unlimited one added for the self sign-up deployment of O365 rather than manual licensing i.e. DirSync?

I think you are right actually. Without the other 'ProPlus' licenses there wouldn't be any way to give users "OneDrive for Business". :)

@Arthur, how did you get the "Office 365 Education Plus for Students/Faculty" added to your tenancy? It wasn't until I had spoken to the Microsoft contact I met at BETT and he activated it for me that I was able to get it added in to the tenancy therefore allowing my staff to self sign up. We got ours added when I went though the steps to add the self signup to our tenancy. At no point did I have to contact Microsoft for it (but we did have the previous version of ProPlus assigned to our account)

I've always had Office 365 ProPlus, but the staff couldn't self sign on until I got the Office 365 Education Plus added on.

I am totally confused now. Our reseller says that can only be added for a penny a licence in mid term as ms won't let let them submit an order for 0p. But at renewal time we can add as many as we like??

 

I have no idea what's going on :s

Never had that from our reseller, contact your MS account rep and get them to sort it

Our current EES reseller (Millgate) said the exact same thing to me, but didn't invoice us for all of the penny licenses we "purchased" despite it costing them £23.60. :)

Heh we use Millgate too ... We'll see, perhaps they just love you a bit more than me[emoji14]

Still, I feel a few quid is worth it after all the stupid licencing questions I throw their way, poor Kate must be sick of me :)
