Colin doesn't steal any socks as they are prizes and needed. He simply hides them for a brief period of time before placing them gently back in the box inside their cellophane packets. Okay the official word from Colin is that he secreted 5 PAIRS of socks (we're not counting the visible ones in his lap). Bonus entries go to: @MikeGreen for being the first to give us the answer we were looking for. @StevieM for being the first pedant to give the truly correct answer (we better watch our wording next time!) @LeightonJames for looking through the 4th wall and seeing the truth of it.
