I'm looking to replace my old Samsung netbooks so I'm looking for a small form factor with long battery life (as always!) Don't actually want xxx x 600 so miniumm spec is 768 vertical screen resolution One supplier has recommened Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E145 at £345 Anyone got any? Simon

I bought 16 Lenovo B590s earlier in the year for one of my primaries, and really can't fault them! Reliable, well built and not a single problem (and for about £350 each too). All depends on what you want to use them for really, as for certain activities, we now have ipads and Galaxy Tab IIs to go along with the laptops which covers the more portable side of things.

I'm about to inherit a class suite of original 7" Asus Eeepc which are running windows fundamentals, a custom shell and a terminal session as they won't run win7. There is a part of me that wants to just sack of the netbook idea altogether and replace with some of ICT direct's refurb lenovo bricks, but I'm concerned that as the school caters down to year 3 I'm going to get damages because they are too heavy for the kids to handle.

I've had 1 bounced laptop in over 2 years in a school where they have 48 student laptops (and for a few months they had 64 laptops) and that was a kid tripping over something left on the floor in the hall...

We recently purchased a dozen Toshiba R830 something or other with a 2nd Gen i7 CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 13" display. They came in at about £325 with 3 year RTB and all of ours were in immaculate condition and very quiet even under significant load.

diddylord Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 We have some Lenovo x131e's for students here absolutely brilliant little laptops. I presume that the Lenovo ThinkPad X140e the Auther mentioned earlier is an updated version, if they are anywhere near as good then thats what I'd go for. 1

3s-gtech Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Having a load of X130e here, I would certainly choose the X140e. They're tough, great battery life, good value, and plenty quick enough if you stick SSDs in them instead of the HDD.

3s-gtech Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 They're fine. I just wouldn't spec anything now without an SSD - I find any HDD too slow, let alone a 5400rpm one.

Any recommendations on where to buy a trolley from too? Keep an eye out on eBay or on here for trolleys. Two went unsold with a 50 quid starting price on eBay yesterday and when I got rid of ours a couple of years ago I managed to get £70 from a local school for one and a parent with a van took the other one for scrap and gave the proceeds to the PTA. I'd been trying to find a good home for it for a year by then.
