Best printer recommendations please

Good morning all

I have been tasked with sourcing 5 black and white network laser printers for our year groups, with the idea that we will be getting a network photocopier for the colour jobs.

Up until now all our printers have been colour so I don't know much about anything else

 

So I need a reasonably priced long-lasting workhorse that will deal well with the trials of school life. It must have reasonably long lived and well priced toners, too.

 

Don't ask me what reasonably priced is because I don't really know what they are thinking but I guess not more than £300?

Brother HL-2250? We not only problem with the few of these.

 

Got 1 in the attendance office and 1 for exams office. Not had any bother with these.

 

Im sure someone will come around with a HP model...

I agree. We have purchased 5 of these. Solid workhorses. Managed to get them for around £315 Ex VAT about 6 months ago. Prices may be cheaper now.

HP3015. Most solid thing currently available.

Refurbished HP LaserJet 4200s from ICT Direct, bullet proof bits of kit, cheap compat toner that last forever and they are robust unlike most modern units that fall apart easily.

No one will like me but I have loads of the Ricoh GelJet printers and not a single one has me an issue yet... have got about 20 x 2100s and some 3100s.

 

Bought 50 inks from the US recently for about a fiver each. Rock solid. Got the 2100's from CPC for 40 quid each..not available now though

Depending on how much you are going to print then you can always have a look at the Kyocera FS1061dn (2100 page toners for around £45 each) or if you can stretch the budget a bit higher (especially if they are going to be used a lot) then the Kyocera FS2100dn is a good bet. The real advantage for those is that they have 12500 page toners that can be picked up for less than £75 each!

Sorry to resurrect, how much are people paying for toners on the HP 3015dn? I'm looking for a decent mono network laser that i don't have to spend the earth on consumables on, what page yields are you getting?
