Ruckus - Recommended installer for Gloucestershire

Hoping someone can provide a recommendation for an installer of Rukus in the Gloucestershire area?

Is Rukus the cheapest of the managed solutions available?

 

Normally install unmanaged wireless in the schools we support. For the most part it works but we have run into problems in some of the larger primary schools. We did give the Netgear WMS5316 and the WG103 access points a try in several schools but the WMS5316 seems to suffer from some pretty awful firmware bugs. The D-Link DAP-2553 is our preferred AP at the moment.

@Net-Ctrl I am sure can assist you They did all my Ruckus work in a number of schools and I was always very happy with them.

I wouldn't say Ruckus is the cheapest, but if you get hold of the special bundle they offer it can be.

 

Our Ruckus install was done last year by Network IT24 from the West Midlands. Very helpful and competitive.

They offer a cheaper WiFi solution to Ruckus as well but we went for the best based on the recommendations from here.

After checking out info on Unifi I'm going to test this out. Pricing is competitive with an unmanaged system. Not something I expected.

Try and get yourself some Ruckus kit to try if you haven't already. Even better try and get it the same time as the Unifi stuff.

 

You'll soon realise why the Ruckus is so popular in schools....

@hailstorm We were looking at Ruckus but decided to try UniFi. Ruckus appears to be great and I would've loved to have gone with it but due to budget complications with our company (we're one of many schools) we had to be a bit more sensible so opted for the UniFi. They are lovely bits of kit if you can't quite reach a Ruckus setup and I've not had any problems so far, they're worth a look at least. Like I say, no criticism to Ruckus at all, just giving my two pennies worth good luck with whatever you go with.

On further research it looks like Unifi doesn't offer automatic channel and power allocation. Not quite what I'd call a managed solution.

In my view, I'd say the choice is one of "what features do you need?" and "what kind of installation do you need?". If you're only in need of a coverage only installation with basic connectivity requirements, Unifi would do the job. If you need a high density environment that suffers from interference etc... I'd say go Ruckus.

 

The difference in price is quite considerable, but then so is the capability.

 

Also, I'd recommend @Net-Ctrl also.
