ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hi Guys, Just wondering which room booking software you currently use? I know this has been asked before but looking for some upto date info on this. Had a headache yesterday trying to install MRBS just such a pain finally got it all installed only to discover more issues ! Classroombookings looks pretty nice although cannot download it due to being blocked in school. So what have you guys got~?
rad Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 We incorporate it into SIMs. This makes timetabling easier and is handled by one person so when it comes to re-rooming for exams etc, it doesnt cause issues.
ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 That's interesting, although I would like to stay away from sims as that's someone else s department here so to keep it simple think I will stay away from integrating it. Although I do like the idea of AD integration so teachers can use their current credentials to book a room.
zag Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 (edited) we use Room Booking System - Online Room Booking Software Its great and integrates with the sims timetable, active directory and is cloud based. Can't ask for much more than that! Edited March 18, 2014 by zag 1
Paul_Fielder Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 MRBS, just google it, its really great, we use it for both our it suites and other areas (Hall etc) even school mobiles. Integrates with AD or standalone authentications.
ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 @ Zag Ideally looking for some free software and also something hosted in house as I dont like the idea of someone else having control over our data or when isp issues arrive...no one can use the system! @paul Installed it yesterday and have had nothing but issues so far and currently cant log in !! probably something I have done but took best part of the day tweaking php scripts to get the blasted thing going (Maybe I broke iis and mysql in the process of fumbling)
SovietRussia Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I built my own for the lulz, actually went really well! Pulls the rooms from SIMS cross checks against the users timetable and then gives them their class lists etc. PHP, MySQL.
ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Anyone have an alternate DL link to classroombookings.com software? blocked here so cant even try it plus its free
webman Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Hi. You can get the Classroombookings zip file directly here - Classroombookings 1.0.2 zip.
fiza Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 We use Room Booking System - Online Room Booking Software For free : Hap+ does room bookings I think Support is available on Edugeek from @nickbro 1
ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 I gave that online booking a quick whirl earlier after Zag mentioned it, although after running through the setup and creating users, I logged out and then was unable to log in with 2 of my test users and then could not log back in as admin ?! It does look very nice though. Something similar would be really good but hosted onsite.

ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Just a shame its cloud based and cant install it onto our system.
GREED Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Yer I have used @roombookingsystem in the past very good and simple solution!
fiza Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Just a shame its cloud based and cant install it onto our system. Isnt it better cloud based? Then staff can use it from anywhere.
ITTony Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Well in my opinion no! If there are issues with the ISP (which recently there has been a fair few outages) then no one can access the booking system within the school. Whereas if we host this ourselves if the net goes down the system will still be running, and staff with remote access can connect from anywhere eliminating the need to add in a third party. Also if the company went bust or vanished into administration ! where is all that data? how would you then manage the calendar and bookings if its gone.... In house it can also be backed up to your backup of choice.
fiza Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Fair enough if you have issues with your ISP. I would look at HAP+ or MRBS then.
