featured_spectre Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Not sure if this is the right place for it, but here goes. What food combinations have you tried, that you thought would be awful, but actually worked really well together? I'll start Raisins and a light coating of harrissa paste Strawberry jam and cheese sandwiches Macadamia nuts and pickled onions. Anyone else got any odd ones?
HaleStorm Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Bacon + any other food in the world is always a good combo 2

JJonas Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 bacon and marmalade sandwiches is supposed to work 1
AMLinington Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 BBQ sauce instead of ketchup - instantly makes everything taste a factor of 10 more awesome. 3
JJonas Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 BBQ sauce instead of ketchup - instantly makes everything taste a factor of 10 more awesome. That's not really odd is it? BBQ sauce instead of custard is odd (I have no idea if this works but feel free to try it) 1
sonofsanta Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Came here to say cheese + strawberry jam, glad to see I'm not the only one in the world the wife thinks I'm mad. Cheese + barbecue-sauce-and-mayo is also a great combination. 1
hardtailstar Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I have had Strawberry Jam and cheese sandwiches, they are actually quite nice! 1
AMLinington Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 That's not really odd is it? BBQ sauce instead of custard is odd (I have no idea if this works but feel free to try it) LOL no, although if one of the weird combos contains ketchup, BBQ sauce would make it more Awesome. I'm quite conservative about food and Chips with Mayonnaise is about as 'weird' as I get although LeBoyfriend likes to grate cheese and chop raw onion and have a cheese and onion sandwich which I find revolting. Not sure that counts as weird either. Nor does his tendency to spread ketchup on bread and dip it in gravy (eurgh it's revolting). I do know someone who eats Crisp-and-sugar sandwiches if that counts? 1
SpuffMonkey Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Marmite and marmalade on toast is one of my faves.. 1
featured_spectre Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 my father in law swears by banana and marmite sandwiches...
sonofsanta Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Has anyone here ever actually tried peanut butter + jam ("jelly")? 1
featured_spectre Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 yes...it isn't bad with strawberry jam, but horrible with raspberry, blackcurrent or blackberry jam.

Little cubed potatoes and crispy bacon sandwich - has to be fried together (bacon and potato) with tomato sauce. Crumpets and golden syrup. 1
daveyboy Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I make & cook my own pizza's - including the bases & sauces. The best one so far.......dough base (no sauce whatsoever) lots of strawberries, chicken, goats and mozzarella cheese, and balsamic vinegar. Actually bloomin lovely! 1

Gibson335 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 PB&J sandwiches are tasty...I also like spread cheese and PB. Mulligatawny and Tomato soup, mixed together in equal proportions, is lip-smacking. 1
Sagima Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Jaffa cakes each wrapped in a dairylea slice and dipped in strawberry yogurt. Used to be one of my favourite snacks growing up 1

LosOjos Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 If you're from oop north (or Jamaica) this isn't odd but I was shocked the first time my northern family offered it me: fruit bun and cheese! Nice thick slice of soreen with a big chunk of cranberry wensleydale on top, amazing 1
themightymrp Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 Might sound odd but is surprisingly nice - peanut butter and branston pickle on a sandwich 2
