featured_spectre Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 So Nick Grimshaw swallowed a piece of glass on air (idiot) and as a result had to be taken to hospital. BBC - Newsbeat - Nick Grimshaw leaves Radio 1 show after swallowing glass Ended up with Fern Cotton taking over the show. Net result - he is ok, morning show was less tedious.
fairm010 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I had to stop listening to the show, he gets on my nerves.
sparkeh Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I had to stop listening to the show, he gets on my nerves. More annoying that Chris Moyles!? Cripes!
LosOjos Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 So Nick Grimshaw swallowed a piece of glass on air (idiot) and as a result had to be taken to hospital. To be fair, it doesn't sound like he did it on purpose... then again, who knows how desperate Radio 1 are for listeners!
Griff Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I stopped listening to Radio 1 all together. Either Talksport or Radio 2 unless Chris Evans is on then off it goes
ICTDirect_Dave Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I loved Moyles, so funny and very little music played, that wored for me. Jumped to Chris Evans on R2 as soon as he left.
sonofsanta Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Moyles was hilarious, because he always came across as genuine, and he had an appropriate disdain for the Radio 1 playlist which is usually tosh. Personally I'm a Radio 6 man these days - I feel too old for Radio 1 (apparently only for under 16s these days) and far too young for Radio 2. Radio 6 has a nice balance of interesting new songs and lots of varied songs from the last fifty years - you very rarely hear something twice in a day, and if you do it's because it's a current single. Contrast to Radio 1 where you only ever hear the same 12 songs played in varying order! Plus there's no other radio station that will play the Sultans of Ping FC's classic hit That alone wins everything for me.
sparkeh Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Plus there's no other radio station that will play the Sultans of Ping FC's classic hit That alone wins everything for me. Ahhh memories, wonderful song... For me its Radio 6 for music and Radio 5 for news and sport.
Michael Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Ditto Planet Rock or Kerrang before it moved to digital only! Showing my age as I think some of the music on Radio 1 is absolute carp, plus the presenters these days have nothing interesting to say! When I first read the headline, it does say 'Grimshaw leaves Radio 1', I was cheering inside until you actually re-read it he just left the live show. On a serious note, who on earth swallows glass? I'm guessing the glass he was using cracked or something surely?
fairm010 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Listening to the clip from the show on the news article it was in his mug.
Michael Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You can/do get glass mugs, but generally you don't. I wonder if they suspect something iffy going on? You could seriously hurt someone this way in theory.
fairm010 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I wonder if they suspect something iffy going on? You dont think anyone is out to sabotage Nick Grimshaws excellent DJ'ing?
Michael Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 You dont think anyone is out to sabotage Nick Grimshaws excellent DJ'ing? He should have been called DJ Grim
Dos_Box Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 His constant 'When I was at uni' anecdotes drive me mad. Every time I accidentally scan though R1 that's all he's going on about. It's almost as if he's done nothing else in life. Oh wait! Anyhoo, it's 6 Music and Planet Rock for me with R4 on the way to work if someone not too annoying is being interviewed.
Oaktech Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 My music tastes are way old before their time... I stopped listening to Radio 1 when they got rid of Mark and Lard and went onto Radio 2. I Stopped listening to Radio 2 when Wogan retired, Now I listen to Classic FM. I'm a week off 34. Just pass me my slippers and ship me off to a home now...

I went from R1 to R4 after Moyles left. I'm younger than you
featured_spectre Posted March 3, 2014 Author Posted March 3, 2014 To be honest I gave up listening to Moyles show when he announce he was leaving, because it was like he just didn't care any more.
LeightonJames Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I used to listen to R1 Breakfast Show with Moyes, Dave and the team every morning. The show was spot on in terms of music/talk balance. Then they put that whiny weasel faced freak on and I jumped ship to Real Radio (mainly because of a feature called The Real Radio Renegade) before finally settling on the Capital Manchester Breakfast Show with Rob Ellis. I still listen to R1 between 12:30 and 13:00 (news) before going back to R1 in the evening for Greg James.
john Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 More annoying that Chris Moyles!? Cripes! Chris Moyles was never annyoing I really miss him I switched to Radio 2 (maybe I'm just getting old?) but I loved Moyles in a morning and Mills in an evening.
Alis_Klar Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 +1 for Mark and Lard. Loved Fat Harry White (afternoon slot) -1 for Moyles
sparkeh Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 +1 for Mark and Lard. Loved Fat Harry White (afternoon slot) -1 for Moyles Ah yes Mark and Lard... Fat Harry White brings back memories...as does the 'Shed of Dread' Not quite the same with Mark Radcliff and Stuart Maconie or Lard on his own but they are still a good listen
bondbill2k2 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 (edited) I enjoy Scott Mills with Chris Stark followed by Gregg James, earlier then that no way. While Grimshaw is annoying its nothing compared to Fearne Cotton shes a terrible DJ and host, frequently makes mistakes on air, ca't hold any decent conversation and just talks about herself, cloths, baking and her social life... used to love Kerrang on 105.2, earlier on was best with Ugly Phils Breakfast Show, Kate Lawler didn't half chat some crap! Oh and RIP Stuart Cables Sunday slot was always good Edited March 11, 2014 by bondbill2k2
