CAM Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 BBC Weather - Red warning issued for wind Batten down the hatches for the 100mph winds! It's gone pretty mental here and I am in the South...
bwestlake Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 we have had a door blow open today and destroy itself and a double glazed window with a lot of movement.
TomDrummer Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Mmm, we got the first snow of the year near Durham, last night. Didn't last very long, like.
abillybob Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I like a bit drama, hopefully the river seven will become so high they shut the Kidderminster road then I won't have to go into work YAY
6Foot2 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Very blowy and wet here but nothing to get worked up about [could be some flooded roads and enforced but that is about it: Other places have it much worse]
Bradlys Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Just really windy down here in the South East
adhutton Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The (freezing) rain is coming down sideways here already and the wind is getting up! I hope we don't get any power outages during the night or any major water leaks!!!! Andrew
localzuk Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Yup. We're getting the tail end of the super-high winds here. Our mini-buses have stopped using the sea-front today as the wind was knocking them all over the place! We've got flickering power, roof leaks, the string has snapped on our flag pole so the flag is all over the place, our drains are slowly but surely filling up. The last few days, our water pumps in the boiler house (its underground, so it fills with water if you don't have pumps on) failed and we had a foot of water in there...
Boredguy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 We've had to lock one set of doors shut since the wind was blowing them open all the time, and most of the 1960's wooden windows have driving rain coming through. Thankfully the sun has now come out during a break in the clouds.
Arcath Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Very windy up here near lancaster, my driving this afternoon has been quite a fun game of dodge the wheelie bin
Danp Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Met Office has just put this on Twitter Wind gust of 92 mph recorded in Mumbles, South Wales. Also 81 mph at Aberdaron and 76 mph at Capel Curig in North Wales.
elsiegee40 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 It suddenly got very, very wet and windy here in West Kent about an hour ago.
Bradlys Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Pissing down now Got a blown head gasket, Broken Drive shaft... I'm not making it home haha
StevieM Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Wind picking up in Liverpool, too. I can see the poplars in the park opposite taking a bit of a hit. It's also triggering my asthma (and I'm still indoors!). I can't abide windy weather.
localzuk Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Our flag pole is bending all over the place - our site manager wanted a bunch of us to go out and take it down! I've said no as I don't want to be killed a flag pole flapping around and braining me!
fairm010 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Ridiculous here and I'm in the south! Thames has burst its banks here, getting to work and back is hell!
Dos_Box Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 It's been blue skies with a 'bit' of wind here in Preston however is is starting to get a bit dark now. Hardly any rain at all today, we tend to get off lightly here when it comes to bad weather.
Michael Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Popped out at lunchtime to get my lunch... just as well I wasn't wearing a wig! Very wet and windy here in Birmingham.
jinnantonnixx Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The wind here (South Wales) has been nuts. A side panel of a nearby building peeled off and went flying just after lunch. Cycling home should be fun.
jinnantonnixx Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I bet David Bowie regrets his choice of suit today. 1

PotNoodleTech Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Sidways hail earlier someone left a door open and the hail piled up in the corner of a corridor - very strange sight. Wind is utterly bonkers must be 100mph - I had to actually stop moving and concentrate no not getting blown away earlier some HUUUUGE gusts.
Tesla Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 The windows in the admin office doesn't shut/seal properly, the wind is causing it to make a loud whistling noise when the wind really picks up, i was in there for 15 minutes and it drove me crazy!
tumbleweed Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Anyone else remember a 'proper' flood - google 'Carlisle flood 2005' and look at some of the images. Strangely, the news/government response didn't seem quite as high-profile then. So, for anyone who built in the Thames floodplain (=valley) especially in the last 10 years, very little sympathy.

Hardly any rain at all today, we tend to get off lightly here when it comes to bad weather. Really? It's mental here up the road! It sounds like the roof is about to peel away from the warehouse! Everytime someone opens the office door all the celing tiles take off and rearrange themselves!
