RIS + Stone Computers+ Intel Pro1000 Nic drivers.

We are having problems imaging our new Stone Computers. We have created the image and sent up up to the RIS server. When we try to pull it back down it complains it cannot find the NIC drivers. I have tried the normal $OEM$ paths and edited the .sif file......still no good.

 

I have dropped the NIC drivers in the route of i386, the route of system32 and still no luck. I have checked for the updated drivers on Intel site and still no good.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

 

Is it worth trying the 100mb drivers even thought the NIC is definitely a 1gb card?

I have just installed new Stone PCs and used RIS. As well as installing the drivers to the vanilla CD image i386 folder you need to also put them into "$oem$ > $1 >Drivers > Network folder"

I have tried this and still can't get it to work. It fails at the first part of the RIS DOS screen. I have put the drivers in the Vanilla XP image in the i386 folder,also in the system32 folder. I have done the xact smae in the Dtone image.

 

I have changed both the Stone sif and the vanilla sif to to $OEM$\$1\drivers\network; drivers\nic under the [unattneded} section and still no good.

 

 

Did you get the drivers off the CD prrovided with the board?

I thought the $OEM$ folder only came into affect when the OS loaded?

Which lan controller is it exactly? (Or which Intel mainboard)?

we have the same network card in our machines, and i had a similar problem it looked like ris was working but windows would not install fully make sure your using the right nic driver.

 

On the cd we got with the machine there were drivers in a folder called IntelPROXGB i think these are the drivers for it. I think that card is a gigabit nic.

Where i was had stone machines and i seem to remember some hassle with drivers for NICs and other things when usring RIS.

 

We got them off the CDs that came with the machines IIRC. It's been a year since i worked there now, so my memory is a little hazy about it, but i think that's what we did.

Sorry this is probably too late, but I have Pro 1000 cards in my new HP DC7700 machines, and there is a great resource on the HP forum to help you get RIS working with them. I did and it works perfectly. Its basically a lot of files to put in the I386, the $OEM$ folders etc. not just 1 or 2. I will see if I can find a link over the weekend for you but it is possible its the usaul iffy / non-existant driver issues.
