Kyocera printers - what are they like?

We've been offered a managed print setup with Kyocera printers. I've never even seen one, so don't feel able to judge the quality, ease of use or reliability. Any thoughts? We're looking at the FS2100, FS4100 and FSC8600DN

We have a number of Kyocera 2020D Printers, generally they're okay however they are known to 'Jam' on a regular basis. Apart from that couldn't really fault them.

We have a Kyocera MFD, fuser is a known issue and the 64bit driver does not behave itself but we just mainly use the 32bit driver which has so far been fine.

Over the last 8 years or so I have come across some of these and had nothing but issues with them, I avoid them where I can.

We have quite a large fleet of Kyocera printers. On the whole they are pretty good, some have lasted pretty well and are still going strong after 7-8 years! If you're on a managed print contract then you shouldn't have too much trouble as all servicing will be covered.

the older style mita series (FS1800 -1920) are imo better made and require less looking after as the major parts (fuser etc) appear more durable than the newer FS2000-FS3920 which is a shame as overall i like them.

price for price they are faster and offer better features than other makes but the dip in quality of the product overall has had us considering perhaps HP (the pricing makes my eyes water....)

I have Kyocera's through a lease. Only had one fault which was with the colours lining up.

 

Only 'issue' is when my staff send large photo print jobs they take a while to process.

Most of our printers are Kyocera's. (fs1370, fs2020, fs3900 and fs9120). We have very few problems with them. Maybe over the average number of jams but nothing serious. We had two fs9100 until last year, which were in heavy usage area which had been running for 7-8 years, couldn't fault them. Would recommend using kyocera toners, found they don't like the cheaper compatible versions. 5 minutes to set up and deploy via gp.

Thanks for the feedback folks. Looks like a mixed bag, but at least with MPS it's not really my problem! I'm still waiting for other vendors to get back to me, so I haven't fully decided. I've always dealt with HP before (with equally mixed experiences).

We are nearly 100% Kyoceras here, no issues apart from the odd jaming that would expect on any other printer in a school. I like them as you only have to replace the toner, some of ours are on 200k pages with only toner been needed.

Got a few 4100DN's here for the high output areas of the school and we're quite happy with them so far. Had some issues where they kept coming up with "Machine Failure, Call Service" which was fixed by a firmware update (but that's not something we could do ourselves, not for the want of trying!)

But so far, so good. Bought them mostly for the running costs, they still are nowhere near our Phasers but as the new ones (colorqubes) are complete toss we're interested to see what the colour models are like.

We bought a new Kyocera to replace the old Kyocera that was "clearly on its last legs" - the old one almost outlived the new one. I would echo comments that build quality has gone down hill: but has it gone the same way with other manufacturers?

We had some FS-C5016N and FS-C5030Ns and our experience was that they're very binary.

 

They either work and are a pleasure to support or you're one more inexplicable jam from killing it with fire.
