laserblazer Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Can just changing a headlight bulb affect the beam setting? I'm sure it looks a bit higher now. Guess I'll find out at the MOT.
rich_tech Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 it may appear brighter than the old bulb, should be fitted in same way as previous bulb too, else you can point them up a bit (I managed to do that on my mondeo many moons ago, the MOT tester was nice enough to correct that for me too, was the vehicles only fault in fairness)

Why oh why are car manufacturers ALLOWED to make it so difficult to change lamps? IMHO it ought to be possible for "the average motorist" to change all 10 safety critical lamps at the side of the road, in the rain, with no tools. None of this "Remove trim from wheel arch..." Grrrr... 1

spookyspoof Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 it is possible to replace the bulb and put back in correctly but be at a slight angle... I've done this several times - as MatthewL mentioned the MOT centre will correct it.

jmak Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Honda Accord has cunning system which does have a locater too help you get it sitting right- unfortunately when you're trying to install it you can't see or feel it and it will go in the right way or 180 degrees out. Then the lamps point into the oncoming traffic... Did that once before an MoT - it was so far out they came and asked me what the hell I'd done to it! But did let me change them round rather than failing it.
