It's just what I over heard earlier on, to be honest, I am an XBox man myself and I do believe PS have lost some fan base due to the whole hacking thing that's gone on.

PS3 has sold over 1m this year so far, xbox tops 600k. The whole hacking thing doesnt seem to have done much in terms of sales.

not many graphics cards have 6-7GB RAM available to them.

That depends on whether you count dedicated or shared RAM...

1. How much will it cost?

There's going to be two PS4's apparently...

... Sony plans on launching with two models – a high-end $529 SKU (£343) machine and an entry-level $429 (£278) machine. All models will ship with a PlayStation Eye. (Source)

3. If it is 4k compatible then will they release 4k blu-rays for movies etc?

I don't think we will see UltraHD Blu-ray's for a while, although the PS4 will support some 4k content...

PS4 will support 4K for 'personal content' like photos and video, but not games « Polygon

and how many PCs that 4gb dedicated video ram plus access to 16GB of system ram?

Steam stats have 1GB as the most popular video ram configuration at 34%. Popular system ram is 4GB at 22%. The amount of PCs with access to 6-7GB of fast video ram is right now quite small, even more so with spare system ram and at variable speeds. This is the problem with PC development, the baseline is low and the top end well beyond the affordable for the majority. Make it for the top end only and your target audience is very small. PS4 will also push the baselines on PC games and this is a good thing.

Not many. :)

8GB RAM isn't far behind at 21.8%. IIRC, when I had 8GB RAM my PC could use around 4GB of system RAM for graphics.

As great as graphics are, it still comes down to gameplay. Delta Force 2 was a great game in my view, but had wobbly graphics. Didn't stop me replaying it though.

Graphics have their place - this sort of graphical engine has a place in feature film like games - things like LA Noire or Skyrim. They'd be absolutely amazing looking like that. But in an FPS? I don't really care too much.

Who needs a PS4 when PC games look this good already? :D

No doubt next gen consoles will be offering similar impressive visuals. Has been said before it boils down to a) the type of game you prefer playing, and b) the environment you like playing in.

I associate PC gaming with small but very hi res screens, 2.1 sound, keyboards, mice and sitting at a desk. Console games are 40" TVs, surround sound, gamepads and relaxing on the sofa. I prefer the later ;)

Besides I'm still blown away by XBox 1 graphics, The PS3 often leaves me gobsmacked. God knows how mind blown I'll be by the PS4/XBox 720.

The PlayStation 4 will require a PlayStation Plus subscription to access online multiplayer, Sony has revealed at their E3 2013 press conference. Previously on the PlayStation 3 it was free to access online multiplayer gaming, but with the launch of the new console, Sony is moving to a Microsoft-style model where you must pay each and every month to access the feature.

PlayStation Plus will cost less than $5 per month, and will also provide access to discounted games, cloud saves, automatic game updates and new games for free every month. A special edition of Drive Club will be provided to all PlayStation Plus members on the PlayStation 4 immediately, and those of you with PS Plus subscriptions on the PS3 will have those carry over to the PS4. The most important is the console price:

349

Another is disk sharing policy:

No one cares about the camera, its not mandatory.

The controller prices are still TBC, they are higher priced on amazon so they dont lose out on money if you pre-order.

The new PS4 is a black rectangle...

Hmm.. Does it come with a bunch of apes holding bones and dancing round it? ;)

I'm not really a console player as I prefer the PC and would rather spend £350 on building a decent gaming PC TBH

But as far as the 2 console are concerned - the PS4 is the winner in my books - MS seem to have lost the plot recently with Windows 8 and now the Xbox VCR and their intention to charge you for playing your pre-owned game or even playing your own game on your mates console!

As I've said before, the XBOne needed to happen several years ago (without the preowned and internet crap) and Sony wouldn't even be in the console market now. But that strategy (of actually moving forward for the better) doesn't make them money, so that hasn't happened.

PS4 is definitely the winner of a losing race.

Was there any news from Sony for Vita owners? I'd especially be interested to hear how the Vita hooks in to the PS4, but the trade sites are being really quiet about the Sony handheld.
