defrostie Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 I am having some trouble with SOLUS 3 throwing the following error: "Object already exists". The first time I encountered this was when I was trying to deploy the latest SIMS update (above image), but after investigating, the error message comes up in a number of other places in within SOLUS (below image). Such as just clicking on 'Configure Workstations' or trying to edit the database targets. Unfortunately, this is a school I have only recently started supporting and I haven't come across this error anywhere else! Any suggestions would be appreciated.
FishCustard Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 According to our SIMS support team (note - I've not tried this!), this helps: This issue can occur due to the System account which the Deployment Service runs under not having full permissions to the Agent Machine Key found in either: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys OR: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys The Agent key file in this folder begins with '1db350' The Deployment Service key file in this folder begins with '1728ba' If you grant your account full control, you should be ok to deploy. 1 3
defrostie Posted September 30, 2019 Author Posted September 30, 2019 Thank you @FishCustard and co! It was indeed a permissions issue on the file beginning '1728ba'. All now working correctly... Just in time for the census. Much appreciated 1
FishCustard Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 Confirmed that this worked for me too.
5nowman Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 I had this error! Basically I had to right click and run as administrator on solus deployment for it to work. No faffing about with permissions luckily. Hope this helps someone in the future. 3
SayLHP Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 Can I just say, this is still relevant. Predecessor left, deleted his account and created a generic IT Support account. By deleting his account, no other account could deploy the updates. I've been going round in circles the last couple of hours trying to figure out why I couldn't deploy the updates. He hadn't updated the SIMS server going back to April this year. Thank you so so much.
gshaw Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 Holy thread resurrection, the manual Run As Administrator did the trick for me deploying Patch 28955 to fix the Entitlement issues that have been the story of the morning! 1
RyanMaggs Posted May 15, 2025 Posted May 15, 2025 @gshaw with patch 28955 that was released today, when this is deployed to the SIMS database - does everyone need to close SIMS?

I was told no need to log out during deployment. Staff who are missing the Statutory Returns menu need to close SIMS and re-open to get all features back though. 1
