Morning all, I am not sure if this has been posted anywhere else. It seems quite a simple question and will be answered easily by some of you. I have been asked for some expected grades of our templates from subject teachers, due to being in the middle of switch over of year groups....all the templates are blank, i deleted the attached classes and inserted new ones as of Sept 2014 but all classes still show blank. I have tried changing the date range but still nothing. Is this easily solvable or do i have to wait until the start of new term to insert all my classes back into my templates?

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone would be able to share their current group policys for their Staff, Student and workstations? I am currently looking to start rebuilding new GPO's on a brand new domain using Windows Server 2012 and was hoping that somone would be kind enough to share what they have to use as a template? The machines on the domain will be have Windows 7 on them. Any Help here would be amazing. Many Thanks Mik

Hello, all.. (Eep - another begging post. I'll return the favour some day - honestly!!) I did search for this, but "Office" and "template" seems to bring up 1000001 hits, and I've got folk breathing down my neck.. Mutter. We moved to Office 2010 (woo!) this Summer, and someone has raised an issue where certain online templates don't work. On investigating further, I've found they DO work - just not behind a proxy. The example I've used in my experiments is this: Word File New Agendas Conference Agenda With Tracks In work, I get: Template Download Error The template cannot be downloaded. To fix this problem, do the following: Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet (It is) Make sure your browser is no in offline mode (it isn't) Try to download the template again later (I've tried for several days) If I take one of our work laptops home with me, and login using cached credentials and change IE to go direct, then it works absolutely fine. Our Infrastructure guys can't see anything on their Trend or Websense consoles... I'm hoping someone here's run into the same issue, and can suggest a workaround. We don't have unauthenticated anything out to anywhere, basically I've found a few sites saying to allow unauthenticated connections out to assorted Microsoft sites, but they list about 20 of the things - which is going to be a HARD sell for me to get cleared. Any help with this would be hugely appreciated. Gerard

PLEASE HELP! This is driving me crazy! I'm trying to create data entry columns in SIMS Assessment Manager templates, and I really need them to change colour depending on the data I type into them. For example, I have created a column which has a grade set A, B, C and I would like the cell to change blue when I type A, red when B, etc. FYI, I understand how to use NESTED IF THEN ELSE formulas. In the past I have created a data entry column and then I have made another data entry column with a NESTED IF THEN ELSE formula. The second column looks for data in the first column and then changes colour depending on the data entered in the first column. However, for my current project, I need 1 column which can do both - a column in which data can be entered AND it changes it's colour depending on the data I have entered into it. It just seems impossible! I hope this makes sense! If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it! Thanks

Hi all, I have a problem at a few of my schools, when they open up their office template some of the pictures are not displaying. All you get is a the black box with the little red cross in the corner. It seems to be profile related. On profiles it works for it will work on all computers and on profiles it doesn't work for it doesn't work on all computers. Just wondered if anyone had seen this before and if so what did they do to fix it. Thanks Spencer

Does anyone have any example PowerShell for creating Teams using the educationStaff template (which corresponds to that big "Staff" button you see in Teams when you click "Create Team")? The official Teams cmdlets only do Class teams or PLC teams. It looks like you have to do it via an API request (see https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/graph/api/team-post?view=graph-rest-beta) but I can't quite figure out how to actually do the request in PowerShell. I found this Microsoft forum post which says to use Invoke-RestMethod but it doesn't say how you get the $accesstoken they mention: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/teams-developer/create-teams-with-rest-api-failing/m-p/481157# Can anyone shed any light on this?

Hi all I am new to SIMS and have been told to add a particular piece of information (Pupil Premium Indicator) to all marksheets. I can change each template individually but surely there is a way to change multiple templates. The templates are set up as Year 7 Art, Year 8 Art etc. Mark

Hi everyone, just looking for some quick advice on the items below we are using Report Cards within SIMS and I was wondering if you can add more than one report card to a student? – I have tried and it says the date overlaps another report on the system! When we first set it up we started off with a couple of targets: Red, Amber and Green. Staff wanted targets to be set at individual to subjects so I created template for each subject. Now staff are requesting combinations of templates Maths and History….etc. Which I have refused to do as you can imagine the admin involved. Is there a better way to do this? how do you have this setup?

Just had fun with this one, and by fun, I mean "screaming hissy fit at how stupid Office is". Thought I'd share in case it helps others. Our IT teacher wanted students to create their own Publisher templates and then create a new Publisher file from that template. Despite the myriad Save As policies I'd applied, Publisher still insisted on using C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates as the location. The C: drive, for obvious reasons, is restricted. As such, saving a template popped up an error about insufficient permissions and then let the user save elsewhere; not ideal, but fine. Except that you can only use Custom Templates from this location when going New > My Templates (using File > Open just opens the template for editing, instead of creating a new file based on the template). Long story short, the setting to change this is in Word. Of course. It can be altered manually by opening Word, going to File > Options, Advanced, General section (at the bottom), File Locations button, and altering User templates. You might then think that the GPO is in the same place - Word > Word Options > Advanced > File Locations - but Microsoft apparently couldn't be bothered to include the full complement of settings here. Instead, to set it network wide, you have to use GPP to set a registry key: * User Config > Preferences > Windows Settings > Folders ** Create; H:\OfficeTemplates; run in logged on user's security context; Item Level Targeting > If folder H:\OfficeTemplates does not exist * User Config > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry ** Update; hive = HKCU; path = Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General; name = UserTemplates; type = REG_EXPAND_SZ; data = H:\OfficeTemplates\ (assuming H: is the mapped drive for home directory, ofc) That then creates a specific sub folder and tells Office to use that for templates. Sub folder is a good idea as setting it to the user homedir slows down the loading of Publisher as it scans the whole folder for templates. STUPID OFFICE.

Hello Gurus I have an excessive number of useless templates created by innumerable Data Managers over several years, who all had their own idea of how templates should be created. I need to mark most of these (nearly 4000) templates as inactive to hide them from view. Is there any way of setting a bulk batch of templates as inactive? Your help would be appreciated.

Hello, We are attempting to reduce down the number of unnecessary templates on SIMS, we have 1151 templates including the exam templates that are automatically created through Exams Organiser. Does anyone know of a way to show only the templates that have 25 or more aspects please? These are the ones we would like to focus on reducing for our syncs with external school softwares (e.g. Classcharts) to work correctly. Many thanks

We currently share a single mandatory profile with all students and we have encountered problems with students saving some work in word 07, when saving they are told normal.dotx is in use, their work is then saved but the file is 0kb/empty. How do other people have their word options setup on shared mandatory profiles as I'm not sure ours is correct. We currently set words default template path to the app data/microsoft/templates folder of their mandatory profiles which they do not have write access to but my understanding is word should not save back to this and only use this template as the default. Its not always happening so I think there is a pattern to when it occurs, going on the files it has happened to it appears to be letters so possibly saving templates for letters? Details are still a little unclear from the IT Teacher but I'll try to get more.
