I am setting up a SIMS Individual Report table using Word 2010 for the template. The Table displays a Teacher Report Comment in a large box on the left of the table. To the right of this table are a further two columns split into 4 rows (Target, Grade, Behaviour, Mock Grade). When the large box expands with some of the rather lengthy teacher reports, only the bottom-most of the 4 rows expands; making the whole thing unsightly and unprofessional-looking. Now, on a single document, fixing this is a simple matter of highlighting the four rows and selecting 'Distribute Rows Evenly' and it will fit them nicely to the height of the Comment box. Unfortunately, I have to produce a few hundred of these to a short deadline - is there any way to dynamically resize these rows as the reports are generated by SIMS? Example below... I would be most grateful for any assistance!

Hi guys, We're having a few problems with getting Word 2010 to print using the settings being applied in the program. When we set it to print in A5 (for example) it will not scale the document down to fit on the paper, it will merely print at full scale onto an A5 sheet of paper. This isn't the only setting that won't take, basically any alteration made to the printer settings will not make alterations. But if you go into the printer properties and alter the settings it will happily print exactly how you want it to. We have checked the drivers on the printers to ensure they have the latest ones, and I've also searched technet and Microsoft KB for a solution but nothing is coming up. Lots of people on technet are having the exact same issue, and all that the Microsoft specialists are saying is 'check your printer driver', which is not helping anyone! Anyone else had this issue before and come up with a solution?

Hi All, Has anyone else came across the issue of students being able to access other students Home Areas via Word 10 & 13 (Haven't tested it on 07). this is done by navigating to: (Have any saved document open) File > Info > (Related Documents) Open File Location. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any Group Policies I could use to restrict users from seeing this? I'm hoping someone does know of a GPO as I don't really want to be altering student profile permissions during term time. I look forward to hearing from you all Regards Dan

Just had fun with this one, and by fun, I mean "screaming hissy fit at how stupid Office is". Thought I'd share in case it helps others. Our IT teacher wanted students to create their own Publisher templates and then create a new Publisher file from that template. Despite the myriad Save As policies I'd applied, Publisher still insisted on using C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates as the location. The C: drive, for obvious reasons, is restricted. As such, saving a template popped up an error about insufficient permissions and then let the user save elsewhere; not ideal, but fine. Except that you can only use Custom Templates from this location when going New > My Templates (using File > Open just opens the template for editing, instead of creating a new file based on the template). Long story short, the setting to change this is in Word. Of course. It can be altered manually by opening Word, going to File > Options, Advanced, General section (at the bottom), File Locations button, and altering User templates. You might then think that the GPO is in the same place - Word > Word Options > Advanced > File Locations - but Microsoft apparently couldn't be bothered to include the full complement of settings here. Instead, to set it network wide, you have to use GPP to set a registry key: * User Config > Preferences > Windows Settings > Folders ** Create; H:\OfficeTemplates; run in logged on user's security context; Item Level Targeting > If folder H:\OfficeTemplates does not exist * User Config > Preferences > Windows Settings > Registry ** Update; hive = HKCU; path = Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common\General; name = UserTemplates; type = REG_EXPAND_SZ; data = H:\OfficeTemplates\ (assuming H: is the mapped drive for home directory, ofc) That then creates a specific sub folder and tells Office to use that for templates. Sub folder is a good idea as setting it to the user homedir slows down the loading of Publisher as it scans the whole folder for templates. STUPID OFFICE.

Hi I realise that when using SIMS profiles you cannot choose to bring the colour formatting that may be contained in the marksheet (for example if a marksheet is formatted to show red, amber or green depending on if a student is on track to meet their target grade or not). In the word template we bring across the description of red, amber or green but we cannot bring the colour across. You can do this in Individual Reports in SIMs but not Profiles. Our SLT want to still ensure that the full profile is visual and that the on track cell is shaded the appropriate colour (Red, Amber or Green) as well as containing the description. I agree that this has impact and gets the message across instantly to students and parents. However, I'm keen to avoid having to manually amend this on over 100 reports for each subject (yuk!). Does anyone have a macro in word that searches through a table in word for and if it finds a certain value to shade the cell a colour based on that value? The macro should then go to the next table in the document and repeat the process. I've spent ages googling this and can't seem to find anything that fits the bill and my VBA skills are basic!! Any help is gratefully received
