Hi, I have setup an inventory tracking system on SharePoint 2010 with two lists in the structure below. Stock Levels Item Name (Single Line Of Text) Item Quantity (Number) Logged Transactions Title (Single Line of Text) *not used* Item Name (Lookup) Item Quantity (Number) What I want to happen is when I put in a value for Item Quantity in the Logged Transactions list, I want it to be subtracted from the Item Quantity in the Stock Levels. I have designed a workflow to do this, however it throws up an error whenever it is ran.

Hi We've been using SharePoint 2010 for a few months now and everything was going well until a few kids started swearing at each other on their MySites. And I have been asked to block the individual users. Does anybody know how I can do this? Other than setting up individual permissions for each pupil I can't see how it can be done? Also is there an easy way to block swear words in a browser? So they can't even get as far as swearing at each other! Any help is much appreciated....

Hello, We have upgraded to SharePoint 2010 from 2007. Students have work saved in OneNote notebooks in a document library in SharePoint. Prior to the upgrade, students could open the notebooks at home without issue. Since the upgrade, the notebooks can no longer by synced. I have tried creating new notebooks, opening old ones etc. and nothing seems to work. Notebooks can be opened fine when 'inside' our network. We have ISA 2006 as our firewall. I'm open to suggestions, but what I would really like to know is, is there anyone else out there with the same setup (ISA 2006 + SharePoint 2010) that can confirm that opening a OneNote notebook in the extranet works (or could set up a test to see what results)? Regards, Iain Carlin

Hi everyone, I'm setting up a test server while testing upgrading sharepoint to 2010. Having some trouble setting up the sims learning gateway site on the test server. The site has been set up, using the same msi's and commands as when doing upgrades (app tier.msi, web tier etc), all seems to work in principle with the site/pages but the webparts all produce the following error message - Information not available Sorry but the requested information is currently unavailable It seems like a possible connection error, but the webpart for entering the connection details does the same thing....just wondered if anyone else had managed to set up an slg site themelves and had any pointers?

Hi. Quick question - I bought an external connector licence for SharePoint 2007 but now we are looking at upgrading to SharePoint 2010. Does this external connector licence cover me for use with 2010 or do I have to fork out for it all over again? Thanks. Alan.

Hi, We have a server running Windows Server 2008. It hosts our SharePoint 2010 site and has recently been giving us bad block error messages in event viewer. An example being, The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block. Would it be possible to resolve this by putting in a blank hard disk and allowing the built in RAID on the server to mirror the existing disk to a new one to avoid having to re-build the server and restore all data?

I'm having some issues with SharePoint 2010 Foundation. I know, it's old! For the past couple of weeks, staff have been complaining that documents (the majority are Word) are taking at least a minute to open, save etc. The issue happens on Office 2016 and 2019. When the documents are loading, it stays on the Word blue splash screen with "starting..." for a while. This appears to be widespread throughout school though interestingly not for me... I've had a look through the Windows logs on the server, the SharePoint logs and the IIS logs. I've set up PRTG to monitor the whole network and have also set up close monitoring on the server in question, SharePoint and IIS on that server. The only odd thing I can see is that in the IIS logs there are quite a few 401 unauthorized errors when people are opening documents. I can't see it being a permission is though, because nothing has changed and the documents do open after a little while. This might be a red heron. Another thing I've noticed, which again might be totally irrelevant, is that on the client machines (including mine), there are an awful lot of errors in the event logs "a fatal error occurred while creating a TLS client credential. The internal error state is 10013." Has anyone experience anything like this? I can't think of anywhere else to look.

Hi all, I'm trying to change the width of the dialog box that appears when either adding or viewing a list item. The form is a custom job where the fields are just outside the default width. There is a scroll bar to scroll horizontally, but it would be nice to widen the dialog box and eliminate the scrollbar completely.

I am trying to publish our SharePoint 2010 site via our TMG server. We will be using HTTP for this application, however i create the rule for SharePoint and within the web listener enable HTML Form Authentication the proceed to the next page where i select NTLM authentication. When i proceed to the site i get greeted with the TMG FBA site, enter my username and password and it returns with “You do not have the permissions required to access this Web site. Please contact the Web site administrator.” Im thinking the authentication request is not being passed to SharePoint correctly ?? Any idea's? Jack

Hello, We currently use InfoPath forms for teachers to submit their incident reports/slips. However, when the user submits this it emails the relevant member(s) of staff based on the selection made by the member of staff filling in the form. I have been asked by the senior leadership team to see if there is a way of submitting the form directly into the behaviour section of SIMS for that particular student. (I only know how to install SIMS.net but not use it - hence the rather vague "behaviour section of SIMS" phrase!). My first thoughts are that this would not be possible but I would just to ask the question to see if anyone else has got a way of doing this. Thanks in advance, J.Worth.
