Hi all! I have a problem that a GPO I have seems to be connecting all of the printers that we have installed on our windows server 2012 server rather than just the one selected to map (User configuration>Preferences>Control Panel Settings>Printers) I have point and print set to the print server but if I disable this, it seems to make no difference. Has anyone else come across this? Any ideas anyone? Many thanks all in advance Matt

Hi Guys and Girls We have just moved from a Linux distributed print server solution to a Windows central print server (its what management wanted!!) Does anyone know a software which would let specific users control specific machine(s) e.g. the head of art can pause printers and delete print queues etc for this printers in art FYI our print server is windows 2008 r2 and our OS' are XP Thanks

Hi - does anyone have a Printer Policy for Staff and Students - if so could you email it [email protected] or post any helpful feedback. We are considering a follow me print solution and assistance with writing the policy is appreciated. Thanks Nyall:D

Hi there I'm looking for something, it might just be a simple print server, but i'm having problems with the server turning off the print spooler and then drivers not wanting to install. So what im looking for is something that I either have to install on a separate PC or can run on a VM or just as an application on the server, all it needs to do is people click on print, it sends the job to the server and the server prints it to the printer so only the server has the drivers on it. I think thinPrint is basically what im looking for, but to be perfectly honest I would like it free or very cheap. Just saves the hassle of installing drivers with the machines locked down and windows 7 wanting admin credentials. Hope someone can help

We have a print server setup, with the printers installed locally to the server. They are then shared, listed in directory, and pushed out via group policy. This is fine - but we want to restrict our level 1 techs to only be able to clear printer queues for when things get backed up and printers go into error mode. I've gone into the properties of the print server and given 'manage documents' permission to these techs, but they still get an 'access denied' error when doing so. Is there a better way of doing this? They have started messing with our print setup before when they had full access, so we don't want them to have access to drivers/ports/etc - just clearing all jobs/queues. AD Environment Windows Server 2008 R2 Thanks

Ever since upgrading to Windows 10 we're having intermittent issues with users printers not being added via GPP. Everything is set as it should be in GP, I looked into adding Print Deploy to our PaperCut license but at £1500 I just can't justify it. According to Google this seems to be a known issue, has anyone overcome this? Any help is greatly appreciated

Hello Edugeekers, I have raised the issue with Altman and spoken with their tech support, but I had a good point raised by @garethedmondson today, in that I should ask on here as well especially as we seem to be having a strange intermittent issue at the moment with our pcounter system its happened since our rebuild and virtualisation. At the school I work, we are having an odd issue that has only affected 5 users so far, with printer jobs not sitting in the queues longer than 15 seconds before simply disappearing after the person selects their departments client code, this typically lasts in excess of 5 minutes on the machine where anything they can print will simply disappear, but its very frustrating for the user as they can come right across the campus thinking their jobs are still there to find nothing waiting for them. We have pcounter setup so that all staff will print to a mapped "Pull Queue" printer, they can then go along to any MFD on the network and select and print off their jobs, staff have unlimited credit on our system with departments being billed for their relevant staff usages. All MFD printers and the pull queue are setup in the same manner, though the config of the pull queue differs slightly in line with Altmans setup guides, we have eliminated it being the obvious settings like "Delete Duplicate Jobs" as that is turned off on the Queue and all MFD devices. We have had all the relevant checks done by me having gone right through the system and double checked by Altman and we are still seeing the issue occasionally, even the event viewer and pcounter logs do not show the job, it simply disappears from sight on the windows printer queue, though everything seems absolutely fine and normal as regards putting the print job through to the printer. At the moment, we are stumped, has anyone else experienced anything like this with their setups ? Thanks, Rich
