I have been looking into this as our school is part of LGfL. We get 120 licences included as part of our LGfL broadband subscription. Additional licences cost £4.89 per named user. This would cost us around £5775 to cover all our 1181 students. Staff would use the 120 licences we already have. If we went for Shared Device Licences (SDL) we would need licences for each device that we want to use Adobe on. For us this would be IT Suites and Art/DT Laptops. This equates to 300 devices. SDL licences come in at £21.60 (have had a quote from a reseller not linked to LGfL). SDL licences for 300 devices would cost us £6480 per year. For us it works out cheaper to stick with the Named Licences. It's more overhead for us in managing it but it is cheaper per year.

Thing is offerings like Backupify work on FTE same as MS so it would cost us around £3000 a year to have peace of mind. It's a big step to move everything to Google and there are some that are feeling jittery about it so having something like Backupify gives some reassurance.

We are planning to move over to G Suite instead of using local storage. We already use G Suite but also rely on a local File Server which is getting full very quickly. No one wants to or has time for housekeeping their home drives or shared areas and we are currently just over 8TB of data!!! Moving to G Suite as main repository of data should we be considering some kind of G Suite Backup solution? We are thinking of implementing Google File Stream for Staff. My only worry is if we ever get hit by a Ransomware attack then File Stream would be another mapped drive that would get infected. Hence why I am thinking about backups.

What's the benefit of redirecting appdata please? I'm sure someone on here said it wasn't worth redirecting appdata anymore. We are just in the process of moving to windows 10 so very interested.

We have had a letter from one of the exam boards to say a couple of students have plagiarised the work that was submitted. I have been asked to find out what Plagiarism checkers there are out there so Teachers can check the work before it is submitted. What if anything do you use in your schools to check for plagiarism? Is there any way to prevent students/staff from switching Windows 10 to tablet mode? I want to disable the option in the system tray. I have done it for location as that is now greyed out but I cant seem to do the same with Tablet Mode. Is there a GPO for this please?

I am trying to lock down Windows 10 for our students using Group Policy. When users press CTRL-AL-DEL for the lock prompt they have a power icon in the bottom right of the login screen. This allows them to either Sleep, Shutdown or Restart the computer. I would like to remove the Sleep option. Also I have enabled "Remove and prevent access to Shutdown, Restartm Sleep and Hibernate commands" under User Config>Admin templates>Start Menu and Taskbar This setting states that it should remove the power icon from the login screen but it doesnt. It only removes the power option from the start menu. I would like students to have the log off option only in the start menu. How are others doing this please?

They provide lockable bins which you fill up and then give them a call to collect. Would make disposal easier for us.

We get asked this all the time. Seems whenever teachers do a course the resources are put on Dropbox for them to download. We allow it temporarily for the download or we download the resources for the teacher.

Trying to remove the cage around our Hall Projector to replace the lamp. The screws holding the cage onto the mounting are pentagon shaped with a pin. Anyone know where I can get the proper screwdriver bit to undo these please?

So getting back to this now. I created the domain alias (subdomain ie test.maindomain.org.uk) . According to the support article you don't need to do anything else. https://support.google.com/a/answer/7502379?hl=en Any emails sent to your users using the new subdomain will automatically get delivered to their main mailbox. Doesnt work!! Am i missing a step?
