We had a nightmare with Sony cams, this might be unrelated but we switched to Premier Elements 7, works like a charm for everything we throw at it! sorry if that doesn't help. Tony

hi I know this might sound really obvious but have you installed any updates to this machine recently? so you have a spare server you can get sims up and running on?

Hi I tried to install the latest build of windows 7 today, I get to the point where it is starting to check info. It starts and then tells me it needs dvd drivers, now I am baffled as it got this far already. Any ideas, it has been a long day and I probably have overlooked something really simple. Tony

I would go to town on anyone taking this "outbreak" that seriously, I think the OP was telling porkies to try and get a squeel out of people. -
Yeah, my enterprise console is updating every hour, occasionally it doesn't but that is normally down to our proxy. maybe 0.001 % of the time it fails but catches it up on the next hour.

how did you get rid of them?

Cheers guys, I am running malware bytes at the moment on one of the servers that has been affected. We shall see. I was thinking virus and have been scanning accordingly.

I don't trust sophos at all but that is personal and not the view of my establishment of work.

Hi, yeah we have rebooted the servers and the problem is still present. Nothing in event logs. really REALLY odd.

Hi We are having a few issues at school this week. on our data servers we keep having our "workstation", "server" and "computer browser" services stop. they are set to "automatic" but just, stop. There are obvious problems with this such as sharing stops so students can't get to files, access the start menu and printing for the whole school just stops. we have a script in place to keep them running and things seem to be OK at the moment. This workaround will be ok for now, but we need to figure out what is causing this. we are running sophos *sigh* which tells me that everything is ok and I have scanned for confiktor, nothing found. anyone got any ideas? Thanks for any help anyone can give. Tony

This is a major issue in school, being asked to non techinical things. We flat refused and put it to them like this "if you want the real techinical stuff to fail and not be looked into, then yes I will press next for you, if you want that stuff to work so learning can continue, then get a student to do this for you or spend £15 on a presentation device" can'o'worms.

my school currently has 600+ pcs and about 250 laptops, 40 switches, 9 windows servers and 2 linux boxes. 1440 students and 220 staff. myself and Max, the technician. we are generally too busy

Touché Initially the school management thought it was an IT role as "i would be able to remove it" it was easier to do it myself than explain the "internets" to them

just re-read that, I didn't mean that in a standoffish attitude, missed the at the end. tbh, this has been the easiest thing to deal with all week, powercut on Monday, killed loads of switches then Conficter on Wednesday etc... just waiting for the four horsemen...

for the record, this was a case of physical abuse to the teacher. It doesn't even come into if she was in control of the class. Either way it was causing massive problems here yesterday and to help the school out we are trying to remove it. I don't get this "not my job" attitude.

Thanks, I have flagged this now and I hope the video will vanish asap. Thanks for your help guys Tony

Morning guys, Yesterday we had a supply in who had a problem at her last school and the incident was filmed and put on youtube. Some of the students in this school knew of the video and were passing a phone around with the video on in the class this teacher was taking. As you can imagine, this caused the class to go mental and caused a lot of distress to the teacher. I know the student shouldn't have had their phone on/in the class but that is not my concern now. I have been asked to see if we can get the vid removed. I have tried to fill in a complaint form to youtube but nothing meets the minimum to getting a reply. I am not the person in the film, I am not related to the person. The student taht posted it at another school is undetectable etc... Is there not a route for real, valid complaints? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks Tony

Can I instal this on my desktop as a test? my staff are quite worried about the possible changes. I have never tried to upgrade on a single machine before.

After yesterday I am single again, but will avoid the sites you found
