  1. Can a global admin change the meetings options to allow a different presenter for a calendared meetings? So for example Mrs.Smith sets a calendared meeting for her English class Tuesday P1. Mrs.Smith is absent P1 Tuesday, stuck in traffic. Mr. Young covers her lesson but goes into the meeting as an attendee. Our defaults are set to only me as the presenter for those that make the calendar entry. Can someone get into the calendar options of Mrs. Smiths meetings and add in Mr. Young as a presenter other than Mrs. Smith? If it was an emergency we could reset mrs.Smiths password and go in as her. Is there a back end bit of code to do it?
  2. We had it again today. We've had a leaver we removed from the system but the calendar entries they set in teams didn't remove when we removed the account. So far the only thing to solve it is to restore the account, login as them and delete all their calendar entries We've only just started using onenote properly so that link you've shared will be very helpful.
  3. Thanks I found this video it explained the process of CSP. I'll try looking for the policy i want in the ui and if i can't find it i'll create a csp for it. So far all i've managed to do up to this point is waste my time
  4. I'm still struggling with the student part of using intune but my staff one is now going well So far i have pacakaged my last bits of software and make a few mistakes here and there. I found the shared PC settings also disable onedrive!!! Just working on the start menu settings. I'm just trying to figure out if all policies can go on the user log in so i can avoid device restrictions Is theres anyone reading this thats ahead any help or pointers would be great
  5. You configure some of the details such as channel, install windows etc the apply it to the device. It downloads the update per machine there is no local wsus. Works quite well so far. I think it needs to be better but i would say its better than wsus personally just not better than sccm
  6. Thanks Danp I'd hate working at a google school lol I've gone with Securly for the filtering of KS3 iPads at the moment but will be looking at their other offerings from them. I've found it difficult to implement anything at the moment.
  7. I'm well into our move to a serverless school. All data is in the cloud and i have a working staff set of policies and software deployment. I've started contract moves to cloud services for MIS etc I'm just starting on the policies that i'm going to be using for the student devices. I'm a bit lost on where to start Does anyone have any tips and must dos here? I can see theres a shared device policy and an education setting but i don't get what that is yet. Is it just a case of going through every policy and setting and enabling what sounds right here and there. I found with the staff policies trying to match it to what I have set through AD GPO wasn't the best approach. slightly off topic but do who do you license windows 10? Do i still need to run the old OPEN licensing and license windows 10 along side my A3?
  8. We've got Chromebooks for all our KS4 and Ks5 students. They work well. Pay to manage and enroll them into gsuite We block all the gsuite stuff and push O365 as we're an O365 school. The play store is great and gsuite works really well We use Smoothwall to filter and capture which also works well.
  9. No i'd go with Chief Technical Officer as well. Its a lot more Star Trekky
  10. Director of IT services and infrastructure
  11. How could you surmise why we're restructuring from me asking for ideas for a job title A title is just a title though its what in the job spec thats the main part and thats the part we're changing so the title needs to change also. I won't go into if we're adding or removing items. Also its not my decision I've got the job spec changes sorted i'm just stuck on ideas for the job title.
  12. We have quite a few Directors of something on our books so i think they want something with a corporate feel to the name.
  13. Director of anything that uses electricity
  14. Yea we're keeping the IT tech job role title as before
  15. Thanks Barry. I like the ring to that EDIT: I mean Garry
  16. Yea i know that its more my phase for it. Its not going in the title or the job description
  17. Hi we're moving serverless and are going to be restructuring our IT department to suit. We want to change the title and slightly change responsibilities of the IT Manager. I just need a title for the job role and was looking to drop manager part. I'm looking for some suggestions! anything! throw it in there Director of IT and cloud solutions? The role would essentially be the same but in a serverless environment. They would be managing 1-2 techs
  18. We've been using teams for a while but we've started to notice some issues as we move staff and students around groups in line with their timetables in regards to calendar entries If say we move a students from maths1 to maths2 the calendar entries don't also seem to move across. So the student doesn't get the calendar entry for maths2 once moved from maths1 and still sees the old calendar entry. They can go into the new team and join the meeting advertised in the general channel. I thought the calendar entries were group based and carried over depending on who is in the group. Is this accurate? I wonder if this is a teams thing that doesn't quite work or if this is something we as users are missing when we create the calendar entry? Staff are targeting the channel rather than adding people in as attendees. I had a thought that there could just be a really long delay in the calendar parts syncing over
  19. How did i miss that lol thank both!
  20. Is there a way to find out a web link to a team? I wanted to open the team in the teams app straight from a link it that possible? I want a way to link the sharepoint team site to the team in the teams app. So if a user is in the sharepoint team site for files or to see an event widget etc but wanted to post a message on the team they could click a link and have teams open up in the right place for them
  21. Snagrat how do you license Windows 10 for a device that doesn't come with one, like an old laptop? I'm assuming if you only have A3 licenses and you can no longer use VLSC for keys. Are they just accessible from somewhere else like 365 admin console then you do a manual activation with a script?
  22. Thanks Psydii. I'll give it a test with one of my teachers who I'm using to test the Azure joined devices
  23. so there's no work around. its a land line number, app or mobile for text only. I'm assuming you can clear the pin for the staff member or remove the associated number for the account
  24. I'm working on my current build of an Azure AD only device that completely runs from Endpoint. I'm just trying to figure out how to enable the fingerprint reader using hello for business I've enabled it but when it goes though to setup the pin it wants a to setup an additional verification method Any advice for an education setup? I can't set the windows hello to staff only I've noticed which isn't that bad as i can disable the settings menu for kids. From a staff point of view what do you advise? Use a school phone where possible or use a personal phone as the security verification As there an alternative way around this? We currently have an on prem setup but are moving serverless. The domain is federated and uses AAD to sync with azure.
  25. We currently license Sophos with Link2ICT which is fairly cheap. We're moving serverless and are about to start joining devices to azure directly rather than on prem. What do you recommend for AV? Should I be using Windows Defender or sticking with Sophos and just deploy it out via Endpoint? We are using A3 licenses
