  1. Is there a way to edit the meeting settings for an absent teacher? So we have a few teachers that are off sick that have calendar entries in teams to cover their lessons and for students isolating. They have set themselves as the only me presenter which is the default setting. I know the teacher can manually add in others and change this to include others but if the staff member is off is there a way to add someone in for cover? At the moment the cover teacher is making a single calendar entry next to the reoccuring on. Ideally we need to add them in even if its a global admin doing it. thanks
  2. I've been asked to add into O365 e-mail groups for parents, by all, year and then form. I've already told them we can e-mail from SIMS but this is falling on deaf ears. We'll be moving to Arbor in April, can this also e-mail to parents? We are going to start up sharepoint which i am a good way in now. When i get to the parental portal aren't I going to need to add in the parents anyway? I'm also exploring the sds stuff but i don't see how this would enable me to setup distribution groups for e-mail
  3. I can't see anything regarding azure connection but there is some stuff in there about teams integration. I'll give them an e-mail, i'd need the paid for version anyway as i want to run off reports
  4. Sorry another question we're using spiceworks onprem helpdesk. I was about to move it to the cloud version but noticed I can't link it to users from Azure. It just has a connector program. Is anyone using SPiceworks cloud? Do you just use it without the user accounts? Is anyone aware of a free/cheap basic helpdesk that is azure connected? Ideally i wanted a portal for job logging that was user aware along with the e-mail in function
  5. Thanks Rob, I didn't know you could do that As you can tell I'm not great with Mac OS but i'm picking it up fast
  6. thanks for the replies i'll give them a try and see how it goes. Just found out there is some support available for this from out print company so if i don't get anywhere they might be able to help also.
  7. Brill, thanks I'll give them a ring and get some details off them
  8. I've got some nice new M365 facility and student licenses. Can i use them to enable password writeback for users or do I need to have A3 or is it E3 licenses to do this? Sure i read somewhere this was now added to M365 licenses but i can't find said article anymore. I know they've added or are adding some password write back stuff into teams for teachers to reset passwords surely this feature isn't A3 license dependant
  9. i've not spotted this in the previous comments but have any of you moved your cashless catering to cloud? We have CRBCunninghams which is running off a server. Is there a cloud alternative?
  10. We mostly have a windows network but have some macs here and there. Most have their own printer so don't need the follow me but there is now a need to add it to a few but I'm struggling to add in the print queue I can get the client installed but i can't figure out how to add the printer properly The printer is a virtual print queue named follow me print queue I've gone into printers, added in the advanced tab and tried smb://servername/follow me print queue with a driver that would work (why don't mac have universal printer drivers!!) It won't let me add i'm guessing because of the spaces in the printer name Does anyone have a similar setup and can help me resolve?
  11. just found this https://zzz.buzz/notes/vc-redist-packages-and-related-registry-entries/ Not sure if its right but a good place to start
  12. Yea the MSI's are the easiest. I was thinking of dropping in a txt file into a folder as part of the install as i tend to use a cmd to install an exe file. Not great practice but a last resort If you don't mind and you can let me know the detection rule for C++ it would save me a bit of a headache
  13. Hi Is there is a simple work around for the detection rule when deploying an app? I'm trying to send out C++ 2017 and i have no idea where the files install to or where the reg entry is for it. Am I missing something simple? I'm under the impression that the detection rule is a rule for checking if the software is installed both before and after install of the software. If the detection rule comes back as no the app installs if the detection rule comes back a no the app doesn't install and will try again after a set period of time up to 3 times. I'm struggling to install some simple software just because of this rule
  14. Thanks for this i was struggling to find the details! I'll give it a go and see how it goes. If I can find a good way of adding in the devices to Endpoint then i think I can figure out the rest.
  15. I thought MS had changed it so that the recorded meeting posted to the channel now and not into stream as it did before. We use the game bar to record so don't really use Stream but i'm sure I saw an O365 message for the change
  16. Hi, I use endpoint for ipads and some android devices but want to start looking at adding in Windows 10 devices. I have changed enrollment settings to block windows as an enrollment restriction to all users because i had a massive list of personal student devices that they had added. I was working on the basis that to enroll a device for Endpoint management you could join using the accounts i have set in device enrollment managers sections. Can anyone point me in the right direction to what i'm doing wrong. I have 10 intune licenses for my test. I want to add in win 10 devices to manage them rather than using the domain. I don't want users to be able to enroll themselves so i can control the devices in Endpoint. I think if I can get the process of adding in the device i will be ok with the rest as its basically the same to the management of the Ipads and android tablets we have
  17. theres no option for the username to be collected. it uses a cert to allow the device to be filtered then the filtering is pushed through student filtering policies by port
  18. We got the global proxy pretty much working now for the iPads. Most the work involved was around changing our smoothwall setup as it wasn't set up in the best way to facilitate the global proxy and pac file. We are going to use Securly however as they can match O365 credentials so we can get reports on activity next to student something Smoothwall are yet to have
  19. thanks Ibpalle, i'll give it a go. The ipads are on a different proxy port as in this case we're filtering without authentication and just pushing all users on said port through as student filtering. I don't see how I can do this with one Pac file. I've got some of the best minds at Smoothwall working on it
  20. yea this is the bit I'm at now. Smoothwall have a global proxy which works quite well actually. My problem is I can't get it to work on Ipads as i need to add the school external address and the Smoothwall name as exceptions. Two things it seems you can't do on ipads. I'm trying to figure out the pac file but i can't use the smoothwall pac file as its already in use on prem as its what we use to connect devices lol I have requested a demo with Securly to have a look at their solution, they've quoted me and the price isn't too bad for 500 devices so looks promising. If i can get Smoothwall working to my satisfaction then great but its good to have a backup/better option
  21. Well that's good to know it can be done with a global proxy. There is a custom option in Intune that uses configurator files so I'll have a look there also. We know the devices can be filtered though off prem. I'm trying to figure out really if it can be done with what we have rather than adding in something else to manage them.
  22. Hi, We're purchasing nearly 500 ipads for KS3 use. We have Smoothwall setup and working for filter. It currently filters on prem and chromebooks through cloud I need to filter internet traffic on the iPads off prem. It can be done with a global proxy however that requires i set the proxy details to be global on the iPad rather than it being on a wifi profile. Otherwise as soon as they go home and connect to their wifi the proxy isn't set and they can use the internet none filtered. I'm using Intune/endpoint as an MDM for the ipads. Works well for iPads that we use on prem. I can't find anywhere a way to set the proxy globally on the ipad which to me tells me you can't I have found the Apple filtering stuff thats listed in there but that doesn't seem to filter any traffic Does anyone use Smoothwall and have got around this issue? I'm looking at some alternatives like securly. I need a true cloud filter for ios that will work with Intune as the MDM. If none of the above is possible i need to find an MDM and filter solution that's ....... free or not over the top at least
  23. We have hosted. Its slow, buggy and annoying. We've had a lot of crashes especially at the start of a new term. You still need a connector tool to sync data. Sims really need to move to a true cloud solution. Sims is looking very dated now. If you really don't want to move to a true cloud service like arbor this is the next best thing. The pros are no updates and you can access it where you want. Also you don't have to worry about server backup
  24. we've given some members of staff permissions (mostly senior staff) to get to https://admin.teams.microsoft.com/analytics/reports The Insights thing above looks good! I was hoping for a good Power Bi connector for teams data. The CQD stuff is useless for education purposes as far as I can see. I wonder though i did spot a products insights that was in beta the other day in Power Bi
