Can anyone recommend companies that repair ipads? I just need a screen replaced. I know there are some companies that will collect repair and return. Before i go far googling away just thought i'd ask for any recommendations. My school is in Birmingham if it helps

I've got it all working now. I use Intune to manage the ipad settings then Apple school manager sorts the accounts and classes stuff using a sync tool salamander offer for free. As long at the student is logged in with the schools apple ID it works. So far so good. This is based on staff members using an iPad. If you don't have a teacher iPad you'd need a third party like Securly

I'm looking for some apps to do a few things on a network. Ping command, connect to switches etc Can you recommend any to try? At the moment I'm just connecting to a VM and running what i need. I wanted to find the native ios apps that would do the same. This isn't a quest to replace my VM

I've seen this one. He refers to the usernames matching but on his example and all the other examples i've found both the username and domain matches. He also doesn't cover how to complete the whole setup. I'll add my 365 domain into google and add a user under that domain to see if it works. If it does work the issue must be the domain difference and i'll figure out the rest if it still doesn't work it must be something i'm not setting correctly I was hoping to find a school that has gone the same thing i'm trying to do

I'm using gsuite education. I have 500 chromebooks all working great. We're using O365 and have switched off most the google apps. gsuite is managing the mdm parts for settings and software. I want to switch to sign on using the students 365 credentials of the student rather than the gsuite address. Theres some great guides out there which i've followed but i can't seem to get it working. My problem i think is the domain names for 365 and gsuite don't match my o365 is schoolname.org.uk my gsuite is gsuite.schoolname.org.uk All the students have exactly the same username in 365 and gsuite just the domain name is different. should that matter? I didn't think it would. Surely i should be able to set the two to match up the username part of the user which does match between the two

If not can anyone give me some advice on the cloud key? We have 75 APs. I'm wondering if the cloud key can handle this many APs

Hi, How do you get the parent data using the Salamander free tool? I'm also looking at Locker Connect (formerly Ruler Connect). This seems to do a lot around SDS

I forgot to add here i'm using SIMS. I need to generate the guardian and users csv for SDS

I'm currently using the free salamander teams tool to upload data doe SDS. This tool doesn't include the parent/guarding data needed for the parent sync stuff. Can someone point me in the right direction of a good method that does? Or if you use the salamander tool currently what do you do for the parent data?

£330 is also about the price point we're hitting per device. Even though Pauls price is way over as he's based on it retail, education ipad pricing is still £100 per device more expensive than a Chromebook. Personally i think students and teacher respond better to iPads than Chromebooks but work wise i prefer a Chromebook over an ipad. This is why we spit out devices as ipads for KS3 and Chromebooks for KS4 and 5. I do think its a shame google don't have a native classroom management app like Apple do. We'd pay extra for it if they did it assuming it was good which it probably would be.

Paulkerton where are you buying your iPads from lol paying a bit too much I see your point however and it answers the overall question. If we want the extra bits we get with iPads we either need to buy ipads or pay for some MDM support to run it. we don't use google classroom cause we use teams. We have all our classes setup with content on there. We just want to use the Chromebook cause they're cheap and easy to use.

We have around 500 Chromebooks covering KS4 and KS5 All working nicely. We block most of the google apps including classrooms and push them to use office 365 and teams. The students are logging into the Chromebooks using gmail accounts on out gsuite domain. Can we manage some basic functions on them without paying for an MDM? lock screen, view screen, push an app to use and lock. We also have iPads. 500 covering KS3. These are super easy to manage. You import users and classes from SIMS. Teachers use the apple id for their ipad and the student use their apple ID for their ipads. Teacher sees the ipads in the classrooms apps set but the classes they teach. It works really well. It all just pulls down from apple school manager. I want to do something like this on our Chromebooks. Everything i've seen so far pushes me to senso.clous, securly and the others.

ok i've got a bit of information. Salamander do an import tool that's free. From what i can tell you setup apple ID for staff and students using SDS or this tool. They import into Apple School manager. you can join it to azure to link it into your domain names. the classes data link students to teachers and classes based on SIMS data. The classroom parts of the ipad pick up this information from the apple ID used on the ipad. Like SDS does with teams. I'm also looking at a securly MDM solution that does it for you with a better UI i just don't know the costs yet. I'm sure Salamander would also have some elements to help you achieve this I'll add some more when i get there. Intune does have a few classroom policies but nothing to help you manage the classes. There is some SDS stuff to do with classroom but its a bit vague.

I'm in the same place. 500 ipads managed through intune. I'm trying to find out how intune and apple classroom can work together. There are nods to apple classroom in intune and there is some SDS stuff for intune. I'm not sure how it all goes together or if it does

Oh wait there is a delete all. Add yourself in as management on O365 so their account shows in Outlook. GO to their calendar in outlook. Change the calendar view to list, select all and delete

I don't think its possible at the moment. My two main team gripes are the meeting options which may well elevate when its not being used to teach remotely and the fact that when a teacher leaves and you delete them they're calendar entries stick around in everyones calendar

I think its a try and see thing then. We have some at the edge of the rooms which is odd. I didn't put these up. I will move these to the centre of to above where the student will be. I'll go for one a classroom and see how they hand a class of users. I think i only need about 8 to achieve one per classroom.

We've recently moved to 1:1 computing with our KS3 students having ipads and our KS4 and ks5 students using Chromebooks. We could potentially have 1000 devices all running at once on the site. I want to try and make what we currently have in place gives the best it can. I have a few spare APs and can easily buy some more and stick up quite quickly. This will be the first time i have them all back in the school after lockdown. So I want to spend the next 3 weeks monitoring performance so I can add in improvements at Easter. There is 100% coverage in all classrooms but there are classrooms with low signal. I know throwing in APs here and there won't help but can someone offer some guidance on a good strategy to take for placing them? Some dividing walls are brink/concreate and some are just stud walls, depends on the room. Looking to the future do you think the APs we're using will provide what we need or are we well under powered for what we're trying to achieve. If yes can recommendations or pointers from those that are already here would be great We currently have this AP UAP-AC-Pro which is 450mbps 2.4ghz and 1300mbps at 5ghz They do a UAP-AC-HD thats 800 at 2.4 and 1733 at 5. Its also twice the price.
