  1. Has anyone transitioned Sibelius to MuseScore here at all? We've got both here and music department are insisting on a new purchase of Sibelius even though it would costs thousands of pounds in annual licensing fees. MuseScore is free and looked good on a trial I did with it but I am not an expert in it. Does anyone know the difference?
  2. We use salamander here as well with Bromcom, works great! Cheap and once setup it just works™ No issues with the licensing once setup. Bromcom do have a new solution but it only works with office 365 and not onsite AD.
  3. I really like the look of that, shame no dark mode though. Do you know if they have Office 365 Login single sign on? Looks much nicer than OSticket or our current parago ticket system.
  4. We use aruba for our wireless but found unify switches to be much better value with more features. We have full 10gbit at core and 1gb all round. All the switches are silent which is a huge plus. We were also on netgear before.
  5. Posting again here for completeness: Identity Management = Biostore IDManager Cashless Catering = Biostore Fastrack Online Payments = Bromcom My Child At School Parent Portal IDmanager and Fastrack need a local server but seem to work very reliably. NOTES: IDManager sync uses groupcall exporter to get all the student info out of Bromcom. MCAS is all cloud based. Install experience: It was done in a couple of hours remotely, we moved from Cunninghams and all balances were transferred automatically from our old system. The only thing we had to do was register the students fingerprints again which sounded like a big task at first but actually we just did it at the till on lunch break and it worked really well. Overall it was well worth moving and nothing really to worry about. We've not had a "sync" issue since. EDIT: One more thing to mention is the Bromcom parent portal has the dinner money and pay option at the bottom of the main screen which means parents have to scroll down to see it. Hard for new users and we got many parent queries about that on transition. We've asked @Bromcom_Support to change this as its not obvious, not sure if they did it yet so something to bear in mind...
  6. Yes MCAS works really well for payments. We don't use 3rd parties any more for that, just the identity management and Fastrak from biostore.
  7. Veeam 11 has some nice new features that make block ransomware from changing the backups. I think it only works with Amazon cloud AWS at the moment, but very cool. For this reason we will be looking into it.
  8. Thanks claimed, although I messup up the address on the 1st attempt!
  9. No we bought new ones, all included in the package. The Cunningham's ones were well out of date as they charge extortionate prices to upgrade them! New much better finger print readers as well.
  10. When we moved to Bromcom we also moved to Biostore Fastrack, its been really good and not had an issues since install using the bromcom MCAS system for payments. So much better than when we had Sims + Cunninghams and their awful support and poor sync software. I would definitly recomend moving, it was all done in a day and kids re-registered at the till.
  11. So who's going to be the first person to write a guide on setting up the Linux read-only storage drive for ransomware safe backups? Sounds really interesting.
  12. Just installed without any issues! Even the agents upgraded perfectly. Awesome! Also upgraded to the latest Veeam One as well for monitoring.
  13. Every veeam update seems to break out clients! But hopefully this one is good. Looking forward to the ransomware protection features especially. https://go.veeam.com/v11
  14. You could use a Microsoft form and point to the sharepoint policy, user fills in form once read.
  15. Awesome flight, so impressive! I can't believe they forgot to give it landing legs though
  16. Yes pretty much, I did this many years ago when I first joined the school. Not sure about Solus though. Its nice I don't have to deal onsite MIS servers any more, good luck
  17. Can you send them a message as an admin? Sometimes that kicks it into the new policy Also make sure you get them to log in and out of teams as well as yourself beforehand.
  18. Takes a long time from experience, up to a week for us for random users. Make sure the teacher policy is updated in the GUI as well to the correct one you set with powershell. We ended up turning it on for all our policies.
  19. Thanks interesting post indeed! I guess you have to be a certain type of person to get stuff done and change the world. A trail of unhappy people, but huge progress, sounds like many leaders of history Every
  20. I remember calling schoolcomms asking if they had any intention of fixing their archaic login system that required a "memorable word" to be screenshotted (you couldnt copy and paste it) to login which confused all our staff to the point of the software becoming unusable on occasions. They basically said it wasn't possible because the underlying technology "wasn't upgradeable". These days we don't need it any more as Bromcom has all the text and email functionality built it. And best thing its all a single sign on with Office 365!
  21. Just out of interest why are you not a fan of Elon? I read is biography and its incredible the journey he's been on building companies, being forced out of the board room, loosing a child, putting all his money into 2 startups that can literally save the world and risking everything. Selling all his billionaire properties to lead a simple life of dedicated innovation. To me, he is one of the worlds greatest minds, always thinking about the big problems the world faces. And to top it all off, he's a dank meme lord and loves Reddit. What more can you ask for in a leader haha. As you can probably tell, I'm a fan
  22. They even mention that they will invest in Sims 8
  23. Sounds like the deal is done https://www.montagu.com/news/montagu-to-acquire-capita-s-ess-business-and-invest-in-parentpay-group/ The interesting thing is they have also bought parentpay. And Sims will be under parentpay!
  24. Yeh getting issues with sharepoint sites here, time to go home...
  25. Epic! rockets are so awesome!!
