1. And also Bromcom on Twitter: We are proud to announce that 9 more Coventry Maintained Schools have chosen Bromcom as their MIS All primary schools I think.
 2. To stay on topic... Bromcom on Twitter: It is our pleasure to welcome 5 new Schools to our community
 3. We moved to sage cloud and its been great with lots of transferable skills from staff, previously used Civica Finance but that was taken over and was very outdated.
 4. Great thanks, not sure it tells me anything though other than showing the manual restarts. I've submitted a web ticket (407415) but still waiting 3 days later hehe, guess i will need to pick up the phone

07:30:30 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 27471 exited with status 0

07:30:33 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 27469 exited with status 0

07:30:33 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 27472 exited with status 0

07:30:35 Web proxy Squid Parent: will start 3 kids

07:30:35 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 10305 started

07:30:35 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 10306 started

07:30:35 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 10307 started

07:30:35 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 10305 exited with status 0

07:30:36 Web proxy Squid Parent: will start 3 kids

07:30:36 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 10312 started

07:30:36 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 10314 started

07:30:36 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 10315 started

07:30:38 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 10306 exited with status 0

07:30:38 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 10307 exited with status 0

19:46:50 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 10312 exited with status 0

19:46:53 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 10314 exited with status 0

19:46:53 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 10315 exited with status 0

19:46:55 Web proxy Squid Parent: will start 3 kids

19:46:55 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 29707 started

19:46:55 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 29708 started

19:46:55 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 29709 started

19:46:55 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 29707 exited with status 0

19:46:56 Web proxy Squid Parent: will start 3 kids

19:46:56 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-coord-3) process 29717 started

19:46:56 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 29719 started

19:46:56 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 29720 started

19:46:58 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-2) process 29708 exited with status 0

19:46:58 Web proxy Squid Parent: (squid-1) process 29709 exited with status 0

5. Just the proxy service, box and web interface are fine. We're on S8 I think
 6. Over the last few days we've had the smoothwall proxy stop responding a couple of times which has brought the internet down for the whole school. I've never had this before, but a reboot of the box has fixed it each time. Any ideas how to troubleshoot it @ibpalle or anyone else?
 7. I love these threads simply because it reminds how ridiculous running a local MIS is I remember these days with fondness and dread! Its 20 year old technology, time to move on.
 8. Not concerned at all, the new system is very customisable and much nicer than ad hoc reports. Bromcom did a nice introduction to it on a web meeting and it satisfied us. Definitly worth re-writting your reports from scratch, it doesnt take that long.
 9. Paying for support twice is just another weird thing with Sims. I mean why are their normal support lines not capable of doing this?
 10. Just saw this on twitter Bromcom on Twitter: Breaking News: Bromcom and Coventry agree terms! 19 more schools
 11. Bromcom has gone down a few times or been slow, but generally its fixed within minutes or the odd hour. Like any cloud offering, they work feverishly to get it back up and usually you just sit back and wait. We certainly haven't had any issues where the school has come to a stop, just a few odd frustrations at the start of term when they were scaling fast.
 12. Absolutely nothing in 2 years now, just does what its supposed to. Its cloud based as well so they manage all the API and linkage. We were on Scopay and it was awful at syncing and breaking all the time. We had DLL issues, task schedualer issues, SSL issues. Literally the worst! Not that I can think of, even refunds work well I don't think so, but when I do it Chrome just remembers all my card details. Its an easy process.
 13. Yes we moved from ScoPay to Bromcom payments with Biostore as our cashless. Works very well and we've had no issues since it was introduced. So nice to have an integrated system with the Bromcom MCAS parent portal taking all payments as well as delivering data to the parents. Just one login (which they are also improving as well right now to make it easier to remember).
 14. Bromcom on Twitter: Signed, Sealed, Delivered. A very warm welcome to Coast and Vale Trust 6 more schools I think to Bromcom
 15. We removed our old Casio laser projectors and installed smartboard 6000s interactive screens in various parts of the school. Overall its been a great success. Teachers love the Black and Red pens. Very natural to use and teach with.
 16. Looks like a really good system. We have paxton here but its quite old fashioned with a poor admin software.
 17. Bromcom on Twitter: "It is our pleasure to welcome 5 new Schools into the Bromcom family. All Saints Academy All Saints Catholic School and Technology College Appleby Grammar School Ashmole Academy Aylesbury Grammar School EDIT: There are loads more I think as well including some trusts and 60 coventry primary schools, can't keep up
 18. Bromcom on Twitter: "It is our pleasure to welcome 3 new schools into the Bromcom family! Ted Wragg Matford Brook Academy Sandy Lane Primary School Bosco Centre College All going to Bromcom
 19. Some good analysis here: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/learning-from-bromcom-computers-plc-vs-united-trust-case-erol-fcca/
 20. I've just had a recent discussion with a Bromcom developer and they should be fixing all the MCAS login issues at the end of this quarter I believe or possibly Q2. It's actively being worked on. Just to stay on topic, Both Arbor and Bromcom are rapidly fixing all these issues mentioned. You really can't go wrong with either of them. Its worth keeping on saying this as there might be people sitting on Sims being scared off by this, don't be. Both systems are far superior.
 21. I would argue that the Parent apps, Teacher Attendance features and cashless payments are the 3 biggest things for an MIS to get right from a schools point of view. We have Bromcom here and all of them are excellent, particularly the mychildatschool app. There are of course other areas that don't compare so well, but its all about priorities. Arbor seem quite slow in developing the core missing bits of their systems. Face ID is easy enough to implement by a good app developer and has been out for 5 years now...
 22. Yes there was a big Microsoft outage this morning which also affected Bromcom
 23. I also did this, just rolled the insulation over the existing wooden boarding. Its done wonders for the heat in the house. The most important thing is to insulate the hatch door as well, this is what really made a difference in our house. Also I used those loft legs in some places to create a raised area but only did it on a couple of meters as it was tedious. Definitly worth doing though, think it cost about 150 quid in total and saves us 20% heating already since its been down.
 24. All bids should be treated equally, that's all this is really about. Particularly for large MAT's. Saying that, in my opinion Bromcom should donate all the money (after costs) to charity rather than half. The point has been proven, but there is risk of damage to their reputation when bidding for large Mats now. Bromcom and Arbor both have an excellent product and it would be a shame if this put off people changing their MIS in the future.
 25. Out of interest, Why move to mosyle? Are you moving from Jamf?
