  1. Thankyou. The Band Steering was already off. I've found something... We have two Wifi Networks, our main School one and then a guest one. The Guest one is set up as a Guest Hot spot with login page. This connects absolutely fine so it must be something to do with the network. Though it's odd as it has worked fine in the past. Just looked at the system logs. It just says when I've logged into the admin portal or when a device has connected to the guest portal. Nothing else.
  2. Sorry as I'm a bit not with it today as my wife is in hospital, but which logs do you mean? I've gone into my Unifi controller and can't really see much in there. Thankyou.
  3. Done that. Makes no difference. Any other device can connect fine so not a problem with addresses. Plenty of phones and Laptops connecting perfectly.
  4. Hi everyone, I wondered if anyone could help as I have several failing to connect iPads. I've got 90 iPads and most are working fine and can connect to the Wifi however we are having more and more iPads that are displaying the error below when I try to connect them to the Wifi: Unable to join the network “network name.” This network is operating on Wi-Fi channels in use by several other nearby networks. Restarting your wireless router may allow it to automatically choose the best channel to use, and may resolve this problem. I can get the iPad to connect to another network but just not this one. It only happens to certain iPads which is really annoying. Anyone else had this issue? We are running iPad OS version 16.5 on 5th Gen iPads. Thankyou.
  5. Everything has Device isolation so nothing on that VLAN can talk to each other.
  6. This is for a home setup. My IOT network is anything that might "phone home or have questionable security". So my NVR sits on that.
  7. Hi everyone, What would you say is the best way to access an IOT VLAN, for example to change some settings on a CCTV's NVR? Is it best to connect a laptop to the IOT VLAN and connect that way or is it worth setting up firewall rules to allow connection to the IOT VLAN from the other main VLAN. What is best practise? Thankyou.
  8. Hi all, I'm trying to build a Windows 11 installer and have used the Windows Configuration Designer to customise it and it also installs some apps too. The problem I have is that I can't get it to apply the desktop background wallpaper. It says not to use the "Desktop and background" section and instead use the "Personalization settings". I therfore set the path to the jpg wallpaper in Personalization settings and this points to the file on the install USB stick. However it does not apply the wallpaper. Anyone have any ideas? I also would like to remove the following when the user logins in for first time. Is it possible? - Let Microsoft and Apps use your location - Find My Device - Send Diagnostic Data to Microsoft - Improve inking sand Typing - Get Tailored Experiences with diagnostic data - Let Apps use advertising ID Thankyou for your help.
  9. Hi, I have a friend who owns a business and they’ve recently purchased another office in Bournemouth. Their main server and data is in the Nottingham office. They would like to use their Bournemouth location as a place for an offsite backup of the main files and server in Nottingham. What would be the best way to back the files up? Thankyou.
  10. DrCheese, I think you've got it spot on.
  11. In this hot weather I often make a Chilli Salmon and Prawn Rice Salad 1. Coat a salmon fillet with Sweet Chilli sauce and wrap in foil, and into the oven for approx 20 minutes. Boil some water and get some rice cooking. 2. In a big salad bowl, add chopped tomatoes, chopped avocado, chopped red onion, Sweet corn, grated carotte, and mixed leaves of lettuce. 3. Break up the salmon and add to the bowl as well as chucking in a handful of prawns. Add the rice. 4. Add salt, pepper, Mayo, and Sweet Chilli sauce. And a dash of squeezed lemon. 5. Mix it all up and serve.
  12. Both of them.
  13. Yes to some degree it is definately political. However, securing any IOT device or device that communicates over the cloud should be mandatory. There will always be people trying to get round the latest technology.
  14. With the size of Hard drives these days I prefer to keep it all in full size WAV's. The problem with CD players is the laser will eventually go on them.
  15. I picked up a USB CD Drive just to keep me going for the occasional times when I have to import a new CD audio album to WAV or if I find an old CD somewhere.
  16. Hi, We use Google and the GSuite platform so all teachers have their own Google Email, Drive accounts, etc. Some teachers would like to do some collaborative work with external users who are not Google members. Is there a way I can get them to access and editing a file on Drive so everyone can work together? I read something on Google about you can use any email address and they will get a 7 day editing window but this needs to be reverified weekly. Anyone know what is the best approach for something like this? Thankyou.
  17. So if you are sent an email notification when you are offsite are you then having to remote in to your PC to then access your cameras?
  18. The point is that if they can access your NVR it is an open door to then access other parts of your network so you are securing your important network by restricting CCTV to it's own VLAN. As for them viewing my cameras, I'm not that bothered with that. We all get picked up by millions of cameras around us on a daily basis. By using HikConnect our Premises officers can be off site and notified of any movement instantly to their devices. As long as you do not give access to the Hikconnect software to anything else then I don't see how using it can compromise your mobile device. A main feature of CCTV is instant notifications so how are you supposed to get these if you aren't connected to the internet?
  19. Most smart tech / home automation / Security etc that is controllable via your phone will go via the cloud. To me it comes down to two things: - How strong the users passwords are. - How efficient the company that stores your credentials in the cloud is at securing that information and not letting it out via a data leak.
  20. Yes but what are the actual risks? Your connection from the NVR will obviously be talking to a server in China but as long as your NVR is on a seperate network then no one can access your other networks. From a privacy point of view they could watch your cameras but apart from that couldnt get into anything else.
  21. Our CCTV NVR is on a seperate isolated VLAN but do you guys do anything about users who use HikConnect to view cameras. Their devices will be on any network or maybe their 4G mobile connection.
  22. Probably kidnapped and your family blackmailed for 5000 Bit Coins.
  23. Seperate VLAN with Network isolation.
  24. Fantastic place full of knowledge, helpfullness and great people.
