1. Did you manage to get to the bottom of this? I've been going down the same route regarding the internet connectivity test URLs but not had any joy yet. They have been added as exception for both authentication and https inspection. Cheers
2. Yup - however when going into the category, the list of URLs is blank? Is that normal? All other aspects of 365 do appear to be working as expected as well, just seems to be the safe links.
3. Hi all, Anyone else using Microsoft 365 safe links and have a Smoothwall? We're getting a "This page isn't working right now" message and "ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE" - and can't see anything obvious in the Web Filter logs (although don't trust Smoothwall's logging abilities generally) Haven't used Smoothwall massively for a while so hoping I'm just rusty and there's some obvious checks to be done? Cheers, Stephen
4. Evolving Networks do some clever stuff. Currently using at one site and looking to expand.
5. Thanks all - have managed to get it all behaving now (like @mattpayne was suggesting) the WAN port on one VLAN, the LAN port on another. The reason for the Dream Machine was the traffic identification and monitoring - I didn't think a CloudKey would do that? Cheers
6. You absolute legend - the link in there did the trick, I was able to install via command-line. Thank you! How did you find that site?? Cheers, Stephen
7. Still no joy - can't seem to find a newer VCLibs version, and still no response from support. Very frustrating.
8. At the junior/secondary schools for staff its [ForenameInitial][surname] and if there's a clash it becomes [ForenameInitial][NextForenameCharacter][surname] Students is similar [ForenameInitial][surname][intakeYear] and same logic for clash. All handled by Salamander. The sixth form college is different - staff is roughly the same, but students is just their student number. That was implemented before by time, not sure if it will change inline with the schools or not - there are 4000 students roughly so more likely to have clashes, and as others have said avoids staff accidents. Cheers
9. Did this for one site - and went through the £10 charge to change registrar to Cloudflare (as I had set that up for DNS anyway) - however it wouldn't go through. Don't think Cloudflare can support .sch.uk for some reason?
10. 11. Hi all, Anyone using the UWP version of AirServer? Due to AirServer no longer supporting their Windows 10/Desktop Edition version, and in increasing number of YouTube/video playback/performance issues, we have been looking at moving to the UWP version. They provide the guide here: https://support.airserver.com/support/solutions/articles/43000596797-mass-deploying-airserver-windows-10-desktop-edition to avoid the Microsoft Store requirement, however I cannot seem to get this to work, I just get the below error: Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CF3, Package failed updates, dependency or conflictvalidation. Windows cannot install package F3F176BD.AirServer_2022.7.29.0_x64__r1wcd7sb8tzge because this package depends on a framework that could not be found. 12. Hi all, Hoping some Unifi gurus on here will be able to help! Have inherited a Unifi WiFi setup, and a Dream Machine SE has been purchased to enable better visibility and monitoring of the WiFi, so that performance/issues can be tracked and addressed more effectively. However, I cannot seem to find out how to set it up, in-line - we have an HPE Core Switch doing all the routing, which then goes out via a Smoothwall. Struggling with getting the network settings correct, where the UDM is not doing DHCP, or routing, and is just monitoring? Not sure if it's even possible! Adopting a test AP also fails. Any help much appreciated - have never used Unifi before, am used to HPE/Aruba. Thanks, Stephen
13. Yes that's exactly what we had last year - their year end had changed, without informing anyone. They moved us over from UPN/Admission Number to Payment ID to link the accounts, so that there wouldn't be problems again with rolling over (something to do with UPN/Admission Number not existing prior to admission and their system getting very confused)
14. Recently setup the relationship with Dell directly - they also helped get onto a framework, plus Microsoft's Shape the Future, all increasing the available discount. So far, very happy with how it's worked out.
15. Just an FYI Cunninghams definitely changed their preferred ID - feel like it was on admission number, then UPN and maybe changed again due to issues every rollover? Will try and confirm.
16. Thanks all - I'm looking for a way to make something like this? Outlet numbers etc and what cab they go to?
17. Thanks both - any tips for getting started with Visio? Not used it much really. Can you import a floor plan easily enough? Any good templates for standard network sockets/cabling types? Cheers
18. ALWAYS FS.com. For the cost saving, can have 10 spares. And 1 genuine on standby if needed for support
19. So how do you do it? I'm after a way of getting the network sockets and cabling routes mapped out onto floor plans - preferably without overly expensive CAD software. Needs to be simple enough to maintain too! Free would the dream of course Likewise for the fibre routes - and then how do you manage the multiple floor spanning runs? That sort of visual documentation would be oh so useful, and yet seems so hard to obtain or create... Thanks, Stephen
20. Oh man that's so much slicker than mine haha, feel like I should've put a little more effort in! Yeah no worries see below, defo not the tidiest or fanciest thing but does the job. Obvs will need to replace appropriate variables: # Script to total current sent items for EduLink mailbox, in the last 24 hours # Requires the Exchange Online Powershell module to be installed first - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/exchange/exchange-online-powershell-v2?view=exchange-ps#install-and-maintain-the-exchange-online-powershell-module # Import the Exchange Online Powershell module Import-Module ExchangeOnlineManagement # Connect to Exchange Online Powershell Connect-ExchangeOnline -CertificateThumbPrint "THUMBPRINT" -AppID "APPID" -Organization "ORGNAME.onmicrosoft.com" # Get Microsoft Graph access token $AppId = "APPID" $AppSecret = "APPSECRET" $TenantId = "TENANTID" # Construct URI and body needed for authentication $uri = "https://login.microsoftonline.com/$tenantId/oauth2/v2.0/token" $body = @{ client_id = $AppId scope = "https://graph.microsoft.com/.default" client_secret = $AppSecret grant_type = "client_credentials" } $tokenRequest = Invoke-WebRequest -Method Post -Uri $uri -ContentType "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" -Body $body -UseBasicParsing # Unpack Access Token $token = ($tokenRequest.Content | ConvertFrom-Json).access_token $Headers = @{ 'Content-Type' = "application\json" 'Authorization' = "Bearer $Token" } # Gets the current date/time and works out 24 hours previous $Now = Get-Date $24HoursAgo = (Get-Date $Now).AddHours(-24) Write-Host "PERFORMING MESSAGE TRACE..." -ForegroundColor Cyan $MessageList = @() # Full contents of the trace will go here $Page = 1 $PageSize = 5000 # Max pagesize is 5000. do { Write-Output "Getting page $Page of messages..." $MessagesThisPage = Get-MessageTrace -SenderAddress SENDERADDRESS -StartDate $24HoursAgo -EndDate $Now -PageSize $PageSize -Page $Page Write-Output "There were $($MessagesThisPage.Count) messages on page $Page..." $MessageList += $MessagesThisPage $Page++ } until ($MessagesThisPage.count -lt $PageSize) [int]$MessageCount = $MessageList.Count Write-Output "Message trace returned $MessageCount messages total." 21. We use Edulink (again still alongside SIMS Intouch) for emailing, but we do every so often hit the 10,000 in a 24-hour period sending limits. Had to write some Powershell to alert the data team when they are approaching the limit so they can inform staff. All works well enough, but depends on how much your site sends out! Cheers
22. Hi all, Anyone using Aruba Central, running AOS 10, with Airgroup successfully? Having just completed the install at the very last second (eyeroll) none of the mDNS services we require (AirPrint, AirPlay, Apple Classroom) are working. Currently have a case open with Aruba TAC but it's been somewhat slow and painful. Curious to hear others experience! Cheers, Stephen
23. Hey, Not exactly! So targeting apps/policies to user groups or filters on all devices is quicker than dynamic device groups (due to the way Azure refreshes the dynamic device groups). That helped, but the SSO is still a bit hit and miss. The longer you wait after enrolling, the better it behaves! The other problem I've got with the Managed Apple ID piece is that because that is the first thing to get signed into, prior to Teams being installed/signed in, it gives a double log in - once to check Intune enrollment/compliance, then again to actually sign in. That also doesn't trigger the SSO for the other Office apps... So not as seamless or predictable as I'd like yet! Cheers, Stephen
24. Just curious - why is the proxy option going to have a short shelf life? Thanks
25. Hi all, Currently setting up Intune and playing with iOS/iPadOS devices. Have followed the recommended Microsoft guidance here: iOS/iPadOS security app configuration policies - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn to lock all Microsoft apps to corporate accounts only, as well as the JIT/SSO setup here: Authentication methods for Apple automated device enrollment - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn However - whilst the SSO/app configuration bit is working perfectly for Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel (albeit sometimes a little slow to apply) - OneDrive just will not play ball, and still asks for a blank sign-in. Not sure how to even really troubleshoot? Hoping someone's come across this before! Cheers, Stephen
