Smoothwall blocking access to Arbor MIS
robintech replied to toffee_paul's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I'm getting the same issue with our Freshdesk.com subdomains in the last hour or so , works for www.freshdesk.com , if I put my IP in exceptions it loads fine Smoothwall Web filter report shows a 503 response code in the logs Edge says connection closed Firefox says Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to subdomain.freshdesk.com. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR Error code: PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR ISP is Syntura -
anyone have issue of page number only appearing on the first page "Page 1/4 " in the footer first page nothing on the rest of them Using latest afaik 26.1.1 If I start a new exam only the first page has the pagination the rest seem to be shifted over to the right maybe and invisible, if i exit and then open the same saved file all the pages have numbers, this is without making any changes to the document

Anyone else getting this error, seems to happen randomly on trying to join a meeting "Meetings are temporarily unavailable You should still be able to use other parts of Teams" Microsoft Teams down? Current problems and outages - GB has a few reports but nothing suggesting everyone is affected, nothing in Microsoft service health

Slow Internet. How do you troubleshoot?
robintech replied to Gongalong's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have it set to google for DNS Forwarders and conditional for our local domain wondering if its more browser issue than DNS as seems to be better today with no config changes. Running a script to do 50 random domain lookups and clearing the cache each round they're all sub 5ms. Does remind me a bit of QUIC/HTTP3 failing and the fallback causing these kind of pauses. -
Slow Internet. How do you troubleshoot?
robintech replied to Gongalong's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Getting a similar issue , hard to tell what is causing it but you can feel it when browsing Wondering if its the Smoothwall internal DNS we have enabled "To achieve a faster service, set the resolver to System internal DNS server and configure forwarders and conditional forwarders below. Forwarders and conditional forwarders will only be used for local queries if the resolver is set to System internal DNS server." Don't want to reboot it yet -
Lamp vs Laser Projectors any advice
robintech replied to chrisbagnall's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
buying replacement lamps mainly as and when needed until someone can decide to replace the last set of classrooms with LED or Laser. The industry can still make the lamps though and have applied for an extension past 2027 which is waiting for a decision Just for clarity I would never buy a lamp projector now Exemptions list validity and rolling plan_Febr2026.xlsx -
I'd like one of those as a home server type thing thought they cost a lot more.

Just purchased some of these for £529 Inc VAT, seems like a good deal on 16GB RAM (Single Stick 4800Mhz) , CPU, NVMe . Costs £679.00 on the Dell site https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Slim-EC51250-Desktop-Bluetooth/dp/B0FFBLKQXW/

Lamp vs Laser Projectors any advice
robintech replied to chrisbagnall's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
FAQ Article Page | Epson United Kingdom I thought the same but the Mercury Vapour lamps can still be produced and sold for ever or more likely until the projectors sold in 2026/2027 die off. -
That could be the best option if there's no real mass on the existing stud wall and easier than building a new wall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHwa3dYBQsI . Would still try and seal the existing one or stuffing insulation in it somehow as Chris_Cook said

i3 Processors and Microsoft Security Updates – EOL November 2026
robintech replied to JazzFlute's topic in Windows 11
Not heard of this is there a Microsoft thing about it? I'd rather live it out on i3 Windows 10 ESU than upgrade the processor to get another couple of years , for ones I have to replace it'll be whatever is the cheapest desktop from Dell/Lenovo or i3-14100 usually -
There's a Service Health Report now https://admin.cloud.microsoft/?#/servicehealth/:/alerts/MO1281730/undefined More info: Impacted users may experience Microsoft 365 web apps and portals not rendering as expected when accessed via the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers. This may include: - Missing UI elements such as search bars, pages or the Microsoft 365 admin center failing to load. - An inability to open Excel or PowerPoint files through Microsoft 365 web pages. - Issues accessing apps such as OneDrive and Planner. Other browsers, including Microsoft Edge, appear to be unaffected. As a workaround, impacted users can use the Microsoft Edge browser. Current status: We're suspecting that this issue may be related to a broader industry authentication component change affecting how some browsers validate certain authentication components. We’re working to confirm the relationship and determine the appropriate next steps. Scope of impact: Some users attempting to access Microsoft 365 web-based services via Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox may be impacted. This information may be updated as our investigation continues. Next update by: Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM UTC

Don't think it matters to Entra/Intune if you move them in Local AD as you have to specify the local OU in the Intune Configuration and that can be anywhere, they should be showing up as Microsoft Entra hybrid joined in Entra though Though I've got a lot of "Microsoft Entra joined" duplicates or last active 6 months ago from failed enrolments when attempting to join them Hybrid

Overhead Camera for Demos - What you using?
robintech replied to Jaan's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We use a Logitech Brio 4K on a ceiling tile , long USB cable and the Windows Camera app. They then display it on the Smart Board as Extend or Duplicate seems to work well for Foodtech only issue we had once was someone unplugging it from the computer. -
Leased line dual 1gbps up/down what you paying?
robintech replied to Jaan's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Syntura, similar (ex vat) but with 4G/5G backup instead of a second leased line , prefer a second line only if it went a different physical route to the existing one. -

With MF there should be a "Group Restriction: Specify which groups should have access to this printer" for the DT Printer itself. -
Papercut Mobility Print on Chromebooks - Granular access
robintech replied to synaesthesia's topic in Enterprise Software
Might have to get NG or MF to restrict by printer -
It might have an emergency reset pinhole as well that disconnects the main battery, seems to fix the "shutdown but not" issue when we get it (Lenovo L13 Yoga)

Could make a nice bundle with the Neo and 17e at £599 you're then then fully in the apple ecosystem. Pity they can't link up to each other for offloading tasks like rendering or something, the 17e being more powerful I think.
