  1. Good afternoon, I’m looking for some advice on laser projectors compared with traditional lamp‑based models. Our school is currently using Epson EB‑992F lamp projectors, and we typically get around six years of use from each unit. The lamps are always set to Eco mode, and we usually achieve around 3,000–4,000 lamp hours — which is quite a bit lower than Epson’s stated 6,000 hours. I’m interested in hearing from anyone with experience using Epson’s laser projectors. Is the additional cost justified in terms of lifespan, reliability, and maintenance? Manufacturers quote 20,000 hours (normal mode) and 30,000 hours (Eco/Quiet mode) for laser light sources, but I’d like to know how long they are lasting in real‑world school environments. Any insights or recommendations would be appreciated. Kind Regards Chris
  2. Good Afternoon, The school that I am a technician of uses Iris Biostore as our Cashless catering system. Unfortunately the screen on one of our Balance checkers has been damaged. We have had a quote from Iris who want £600 to replace the unit! I was just wondering if anyone knew of any third party suppliers that sell the balance checker housing/or has a spare checker that they no longer require that would be kind enough to donate to us. Unfortunately there is no make and model of the device anywhere on the unit. Please see attached image of the reader. Kind Regards Chris
  3. Hi Guys Do any of you guys use Senso, for your e-safety software Senso was blocking one of the AQA software's that our teachers were using, and we had to add an exception We too have teachers using this E-Marker software, and it was crashing as soon as you enter the password with the network issue I contacted Senso support, and we had to again add an exception on Senso to the exe that E-Marker uses (DRS.Platform.UI.Framework.Host.exe) which seems to be the exe that E-Marker uses Re-launching the software with this exception seems to allow the password and memorable data to be entered. However, we are now getting a red box with a system error now upon authenticating, with the software then crashing If you try and log in from a non school device with the same credentials, E-Marker thinks you are already signed in to the device that reported that system crash at log on Awaiting AQA response how we can get around this
  4. exactly the same problem as we have had We have about 30 of the NT310 laptops, and have had problems with the hinge plastics (top keyboard plastics). To date I would say that we have replaced the hinge plastics at least 4 times on each of the 30 laptops! No exaggeration. We have a parts only warranty so it has become a full time job for us replacing all the plastics. The DPD drivers are here every day bring in new parts. Its good to hear that we are not the only school experiencing this issue, as Stone have been in to see us a couple of times, and stated that no one else has this problem regarding plastics. I am just intrigued to see if the plastics have changed/ been redesigned on the later models.
  5. Thanks for the reply FN-GN That's the worry that we have, don't want the same problem, With regards to the 2018 model, what kind of problems do you experience?, are they the ProBook?
  6. Good Morning We are looking at purchasing 15 new laptops for staff use this summer Considerng the StoneBook Pro, has anyone purchased any of these laptops and do they have any feedback We purchased the NT-310 laptops a cople of years ago, and had major problems where the screws kept on falling out, and the chasis breaking around the hinges due to poor fixings. It was a full time job having to repair these all the time Dont want to have the same problem again with the plastics.
  7. Hi A couple of our students cannot sign up to the code academy website. They enter their email and password, which then should take them to a page that has three pictures on them, which they need to select to prove that they are not a robot. Quite a few of our students are not getting this far, and don't get the pictures showing, therefore cannot create an account. Just wondering if any one else is having the same issue? We are running RMCC4, which it is happening on quite a lot, but it is also happening on stand alone machines too.
  8. Hi Guys I don't know if anyone can help with a problem that we are having regarding OST Files on CC4. Basically we want to disable the offline files because they are taking up to much space on users area on CC4. I have followed the tech document on rm website TEC1671485 , which does not seem to of fixed the problem. Yes the use cached exchange mode is unticked and grayed out, but the OST files are still populating and getting bigger. We have manually disabled it by going to the advanced tab on account settings, outlook data file settings, and disable offline use which does disdable the OST files. However if we have to reset the users profile for what ever reason, it automatically enables it again, and we are back to square one. We are using microsoft exchange, server 2008 r2 standard Thanks in advance.
  9. No, we havn't got app locker enabled.
  10. Hi Sted, thanks for the reply. Yeah have given everyone full control to the folder c:\program files\Microsoft\Small Basic
  11. Hi All We are currently having problems getting Microsoft Small Basic working on CC4 machines. Our ICT Department are adding programming languages such as Python, Alice, Kodo and Small Basic to their curriculam. I have followed the steps outlined in the RM Small Basic blue print (http://www.rm.com/Support/GeneralDownload.asp?cref=DWN3045943&nav=0) Package has installed fine on the server, and allocates fine. Upon running Small Basic logged on as systemadmin works fine, and is fully functional. When logged on as a Student/Teacher account we have a few issues. The program runs fine, and are able to write code. As soon as they hit the run (f5) to test the code, it keeps coming up with an error message that the program has stopped responding. (Please see attached screen shot) I don't know if anyone else is having the same issues, and have found any work arounds
  12. We are currently having a few issues in our Music department where we are getting an error message as soon as Cubase loads saying the following error message. "Impossible to record audio because the audio input is not active. Open the Asio full duplex driver setup dialogue, Make sure that a device is selected in the input section and that its check box is activated. I work as an ICT Technician and am not at all familiar with this software. Our music department are somewhat technophobes, and their knoweledge again is very limited. We havn't got any fancy soundcards on these machines, we are currently using the onboard sound, and our system is RM CC4 This error message seems to be displayed on quite a few machines, and then once the keys on the midi keyboard are pressed, no sound can be heard. We are using M-Audio Keystation 49e midi keyboards. Any help in rectifying this error would be greatly appreciated.
