Hi, I am fairly new to Showbie, a couple of our schools are using it but it’s being pushed more and more by our edu team. We currently run a MS environment for staff, using Teams/OneDrive/Sharepoint, 1:1 for students on iPads and this to me just seems to add another additional platform at another extra cost. I have looked up online to do some research and common themes are its great from a UI interface, however the app in the past 12/24 months has gone down hill. There is also somewhere I read that if classes are deleted they are gone for ever with not recover. So any feedback would be great. Thanks

Our trust is M365 cloud platform, teams, OneDrive but have been looking in Foldr, but I am not aware of the benefits this can actually bring. My only exposure to Foldr has been for schools access local servers remotely. I believe they are thinking Foldr can help with SAR's. I thought Purview would have been a better options for SARs

Hi, we use Acronis Cyber protect to backup Microsoft 365 tenant, including OneDrive, Email and Teams. However we are seeing almost our data doubled in the backgrounds when we look at the Teams backups and wondered if anyone else had experienced this? We have tried to get this looked at by Acronis, but the customer servers has not been the greatest.

I suppose the risk with the Synology backup is the risk of discs and possible fire/flood/power going down. Barracuda seems a decent value option for edu.... Pay for staff, get students free I believe...

Anyone had issues with Printix and Konica Photocopiers? We have Printix Go configured and the photocopier seems to constantly display a blank screen when trying to load Printix Go. No filtering or firewall issues.... Printix dont seem to be any good with this.... Only way to fix is to reboot the Photocopier.
-
I will have to have a look at that... I wonder if it works with Konica Minoltas too. I am guessing you just configure the driver with the relevant settings on a base machine and upload to printix?
-
How did you get the follow me print to work with Printix?
-
Do you use it with Konica Minoltas? We have an issue we cant solve. We are using Printix Go for authentication at the device and having to reboot the photocopier every so often as its will not go back to the Printix Login screen
-
Very mixed results, seems dependant on photocopier

Recently got some new iPads, we previously had some iPads that where ADE and we assigned a profile to them and the built fine. We now have some new devices and we have created a new ADE profile. Assigned it to the iPads. When building the iPads it picks up that's it's ADE, confirm that we want it to be managed, when then get a message telling us how to download a Meraki profile. Very odd.... Checked all certs and tokens and they are all in date.

Hi, I am trying to find the best product for cloud printing, intune and Chromebooks. I have had a look at Printix, but this doesn't seem to allow staff to release student print outs. Here's an example. Student login and send something to print. We would like this to be held until a teacher releases the print out. From speaking to Printix this isn't possible I know it's possible in Papercut MF but not in Papercut Hive. What are people's experiences? Or solutions you have come across

Serverless Schools..... is there a real option

Serverless Schools..... is there a real option
cwade1001 replied to cwade1001's topic in Cloud Services
I think the main point is to remove the Windows "Server" box that sits in the primary school doing DHCP/DNS/AD etc. A school has moved all its data to OneDrive/Teams/Sharepoint/Google etc..... Devices managed in Google/Intune etc.... MIS is in the "cloud", printing is run via Printix or Papercut (others available). Now I am left with a fairly large fan heater (the old server doing DHCP/DNS only) and a UPS. I think it would be great to use the router, however that is out of the question as the provider does not allow management of the device and requests can be time consuming, so we have to find something to sit behind that to dish out DHCP... and the DNS is a luxury, I dont think necessarily required in a primary with maybe 100 devices and nothing on the local network requiring it. -

Hi, no local AD onsite, all through Azure. So the requirement for a local DNS is removed, unless there is a need to resolve local devices on the network via name. -

Do you use just a standard Windows 10/11 OS on the NUC? -

Looked at the router, but from experience they are not the quickest for responses if changes are required. -
So I am currently in a battle of an affordable serverless solution for schools, that will happily run with Google Workspace or M365. Azure AD, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Google Drive etc... Printing solution: Printix or Papercut Hive, although apparently Printix teachers can not release student prints from a photocopier or PC? Apparently? My real issue is DHCP/DNS Services.... Now I dont see a need for a local DNS in a standard primary school unless their is a specific piece of hardware or software that requires it. Which leaves me with DHCP..... I have had several ideas.... a couple of schools have nice Meraki L3 switches thanks to Connect the Classroom project, others are running a standard HP Switch managed switch (some L3 some not) however the DHCP on HP Switches I am far from impressed with. The schools feed is provided by our local county and sits behind a central firewall and filtering is provided centrally from the provider. I have thought about Unifi Dream Machine Pro, Intel NUC running Linux etc.... what are people using out there in the world?

Anyone had any experience with deploying Company Portal via Device and not user? Using intune and autopilot and would like Company Portal to install for all users quickly. Currently to process seems to take a while before installing for a logged in user.

Allowing SLT and Cover staff to "drop in" on Teams
cwade1001 replied to m0bov's topic in Cloud Services
Well one step closer.... how ever seem to be having issues with the app writing back to the sharepoint site. Its read data all good, but when creating a drop-in session, it tells me its completed. However nothing listed in the app. If i add one manually it appears in the list.... Checked the permissions and the accounts for admin are correct..... -

Some one has generated an updated powershell script on GitHub: The original code uses Get-Team to get the ID and then runs it again to get the name, which is not required. I have also worked on the code to find the first owner that is a member of the group to populate the Teacher column, and populate the School column from AD. We use the Office field in AD as the School name for Outlook address book purposes. I'm using Connect-MicrosoftTeams, Connect-MsolService, and Connect-AzureAD for other powershell commands. I've also combined the 2 scripts into one, and added an extra check whether the TeamID already exists, that should probably be forced as unique field in the list? ` $SiteUrl = "https://[domain]/sites/ClassroomDropIn" $ListName = "Teams" $CSVPath = "c:\temp\TeamsData.csv" Connect-MicrosoftTeams Connect-MsolService Connect-AzureAD $AllTeamsInOrg = Get-Team | Select GroupID,DisplayName #$AllTeamsInOrg $TeamList = @() foreach ($Item in $AllTeamsInOrg) { $OwnerEmail = (Get-AzureADGroupOwner -ObjectId $Item.GroupId | where {$.UserType -eq 'Member'})[0].UserPrincipalName # UserPrincipalName should be the email address and will avoid errors with duplicate DisplayNames $School = Get-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName $OwnerEmail | select -ExpandProperty Office # Populate the office field in AD so School can be assigned $SchoolID = (Get-PnPListItem -List Schools | where {$["Title"] -eq $School}).ID # Get the ID number of the School from the Schools list $This = "" | select-Object TeamName, TeamObjectID, TeamOwner, TeamSchool # $This will contain the details for each Team found and then add to an array to create the csv $This.TeamName = $Item.DisplayName $This.TeamObjectID = $Item.GroupID $This.TeamOwner = $OwnerEmail $This.TeamSchool = $SchoolID $TeamList += $This } $TeamList | export-csv $CSVPath -NoTypeInformation #================================================= Connect-PnPOnline $SiteUrl $CSVData = Import-CsV -Path $CSVPath ForEach ($Row in $CSVData) { if ((Get-PnPListItem -List $Listname | where {$_["TeamID"] -eq $($Row.TeamObjectID)}) -eq $null) # check if a Team already exists with this GroupID { Add-PnPListItem -List $ListName -Values @{ "Title" = $($Row.TeamName); "TeamID" = $($Row.TeamObjectID); "Teacher" = $($Row.TeamOwner); "School" = $($Row.TeamSchool); }; } } https://github.com/OfficeDev/microsoft-teams-apps-classroom-dropin/issues/13 I havent tried it, but maybe worth a shot? could be quicker.... -

So i got the powershell to work, copied it to notepad and saved as a script, however it took 4 hours to create a CSV with 75 classes in it.... its very very slow. -

Yes, I have 6 lists - Active, Log, Permissions,Schools,Teams, Timeslot. I have made the changes as required to Active and Log - I get it now, you update that permissions table... lockdown is taking its toll! However still having this issue: Drop-in flow : Flow save failed with code 'DynamicOperationRequestClientFailure' and message 'The dynamic operation request to API 'sharepointonline' operation 'GetTable' failed with status code 'NotFound'. This may indicate invalid input parameters. Error response: { "status": 404, "message": "List not found\r\nclientRequestId: 03d8af90-e9a5-4bd0-84aa-2c4aaa00a9f7\r\nserviceRequestId: 03d8af90-e9a5-4bd0-84aa-2c4aaa00a9f7" }'.
