Hehe, yeah must be a ford thing. To change a bulb on mine, or even adjust to continental driving the whole effing headlight assembly needs removing. So, rad grill comes off, unscrew and unplug headlight, take back off headlight, adjust, refit in reverse order.

Can you get hold of said student's mobile (for purpose of investigation) and place it in the location in the exam hall where (s)he would have been. Could give an idea if it was possible.

I've has Chaos Theory and Dogma from them before, nice strong ales (well I liked them). Apparently this one is very mellow even though it's stupidly strong thanks to the ageing process they used. Having seen this beer advertised in another thread, I decided with a name like that and it being the "world's strongest beer" I had to have a bottle. So I placed an order. Today my bottle finally arrived from brewdog.com Tactical Nuclear Penguin - My bottle So now I have a dilemma. Do I keep it (Batch Number is 001 Expiry Nov 2019) as a collectors item and buy another one to drink. Or drink this one and keep the bottle. Feeling drawn towards keeping it as a collectors thing, but trying to rationalise the cost of another bottle. Comments, thoughts, suggestions?

Assuming Ubuntu (or variant) sudo shutdown -P now works pretty well for me. Capital "P" is important as it's the poweroff flag. If you've got a desktop (therefore GUI?) is there not a simple poweroff/shutdown button?

Nope, activated a Home Xp install over the internet last night. No problems. I've phoned a few times too if the computer was not networked. It's all good still.

Another vote here for xibo, it's very simple to set up and use. Made my life much easier.

Just some considerations which you may or may not have come up against. 1) HDD included - is it new or wiped. If so is your LEA happy with the data destruction method? I looked into doing this and the only way the LEA would ok it was with new HDDs 2) OS included? Again, for licencing purposes bundling with an OS was too much hassle, was going for xubuntu until the whole project got canned. 3) No support and sold as seen, otherwise it will be a real headache. We've sold a couple of laptops to staff. I've just wiped the data with DBAN, reinstalled XP (as it was shipped) and filled in an asset disposal form. Leave the rest to finance. I find pkill useful for stopping non-responsive programs. Guess you're not bothered about saving if the'yre shutting down anyhow, How about "pkill -9 gimp" You might need to pass it as a sudo command though. Tested here and it worked, Gimp just closed. No loss in system stability. If you want to check the process name try ps -u username

xubuntu is a good option. You could also try something like linpus lite (used for netbooks) or Damn Small Linux DSL information

If the job is less than half and hour I usually don't bother about charging. Just Wine/Beer is a nice thanks you. If I have to take something home and work on it or get called out then I'm most likely going to want paying. You've got to remember that unstuffing a system might seem like a doddle to you, but the user concerned wouldn't know where to start. Family gets free, useful friends get free/massive discount and everyone else gets the charges they deserve. I's mercenary I know, but if I'm giving up my free time I damn well deserve to be compensated appropriately. @the OP - £10 if it's easy, £15 for a PITA job.

I'm suffering the same issue. Of 32 PCs in a room 4 are not talking to WSUS any more. Strangely they were the first four to be picked up by the management console. I'll give the WUA and commands a whirl and report back. Edit: Ok, run the latest WUA installer and wuauclt /detectnow /resetauthorization on two of my 4 that are playing up. They've moved from "Unassigned computers" to the correct group but are still showing as "not reported". So a partial success!

Over here in Suffolk we occasionally (about once a week or so) get buzzed by apache helicopters doing low level stuff. The kids love it. Last night I watched two apaches doing touch and go landing training on a field in Colchester, they make one hell of a racket, but are very cool bits of kit.
