As far as I'm aware, no, but we run a logon script which sets it to clone displays (however this only tends to work if the projector is already on). It runs "displayswitch.exe /clone". Also got a shortcut to this on the desktop for those who can't remember Win+P to click on if needed.

We're forcing encryption on USB but banning completely from Sept 2019 (except for a few exceptions e.g. the exam board that refuses to use anything else, us using them to net boot to SCCM on devices that can't PXE boot). The outright ban is being imposed from above but to be honest I'll be glad to see the back of them, there's no need when you can just use OneDrive. The one thing we do have to work out is allowing the cameras in art/photography to connect via USB yet not allowing USB removable storage...

Depends how your network is organised and what your backbone is really. If you have the spare fibre you could use a separate uplink for the CCTV vlan from each switch to the core, then it'll have almost no impact on the main network.

Surprised it has taken this long to be honest - worked there when it was Office World (my last day was the official store re-opening when we were taken over by Staples in April 2005) - the combined company had far too many stores so must have been bleeding money like mad. Although in another way didn't expect it this soon as the store I used to work in has only just recently closed and moved a couple of units to where Maplin was (much nicer although smaller unit).

If you go into properties for a user in AD Users and Computers there should be a separate tab for Terminal Services Logon where you can set a different logon script, home directory etc. Not used this since server 2008R2 but I would have thought it would still be there. Ignore that, just checked and there's no logon script option on that tab, just profile and home directory. Hm.

We've got 42 cameras across the site including separate buildings at the far opposite side of the site, we are using Hikvision IP cameras so they just plug into their local PoE switch on a separate VLAN for CCTV, traffic works its way over the existing fibre to the core where we have one 64 channel NVR sat on the same VLAN. No noticeable impact on the load over 10Gig backbone, think the most we have is 100Mbps on one of the fibres due to the way the cameras are spread over so many comms cabs.

One of the results I found on google with that error code said it started working again after restarting the WDS server, have you tried that?

In that case just putting the DHCP server on both VLANs by giving it a second NIC should get everything working.

OK, if anyone else comes across the same problem here was my "fix": - GPP to create the registry entry HKCU\Software\Adobe\Common 12.0\MediaCache\DatabasePath - REG_SZ - %appdata%\Adobe\Common\ - GPP to create the registry entry HKCU\Software\Adobe\Common 12.0\MediaCache\FolderPath - REG_SZ - %appdata%\Adobe\Common\ - GPP to create the folder %appdata%\Adobe\Common - GPP to create the folder %homeshare%%homepath%\Adobe\Premiere Pro\12.0\Profile-%username% Then open Premiere Pro as a domain admin, and nick the contents of the Adobe folder it dumps into your documents. You want everything from inside the Adobe\Premiere Pro\12.0\Profile-%username% folder. Stick this somewhere accessible and knock up a logon script to copy this to %homeshare%%homepath%\Adobe\Premiere pro\12.0\Profile-%username% if the folder is empty.

Well having spent a few hours messing around I've got this far: - If the user is a domain admin, it works, even with their normal GPOs applying - With no GPOs applying at all, it works for a standard user - If I copy the Adobe folder it writes to documents (when it's a domain admin), and paste this back into the documents (when it's a standard user), it works. - Once it has seen these files and opened, it will open even if the files are deleted, so it's like it needs these files before it can write something to the registry. So it's something where it thinks it needs admin rights to write to the documents path. Which makes no sense whatsoever.

Hello, Does anybody know how to set (or how to see what it's pointing at) the save path for Premiere Pro? When logged on as an admin it runs fine and wants to save into c:\users\%username%\.... but when running as a pupil we get an error about the user directory being locked: Clicking OK then closes the program so we can't even hit OK then look in the settings. "Prevent access to these drives" GPO is *not* enabled, but "Hide these drives: c:" is enabled. I guess it is trying to save to some stupid path that they don't have permission to write to, but doesn't seem to be a way to see what that actually is, and googling is not bringing up anything relavent. Next step I suppose is running process monitor to see what it does but that's a nightmare filtering down.

Would have thought so if it's just standard SIP. Mine's hooked up to fusionPBX which is basically freeswitch with a PHP front end for the config.

We've got one, think it might be a Grandstream would have to check tomorrow. We were replacing a DECT VoIP one with a proper Wifi VoIP handset. Walked round the entire building and you just heard a little click as you switched from one AP to another but worked perfectly.

I work at one of the schools rather than centrally, think the central team is about 6 but every school or cluster of schools has its own local IT staff. So we've got myself (systems manager) and a technician, most of the schools have similar, those in clusters have a cluster network manager then usually a deputy and some techs. So central IT staff very rarely have anything to do with an individual school's IT systems (usually the only thing I need from them is when an installer demands Enterprise Admin rights, which I don't have)

We use the second one. the majority of schools have local technical staff who are domain admins for their respective school domains. Then central trust tech support are domain admins for the trust offices subdomain and DA/EA for the forest root domain. Edit: We've 69 schools at the last time I bothered to count them, originally we'd have had to be multi domain for each school to pick their own password policy but less of an issue now that password policies can be applied per group rather than per domain. You've also got to mess with permissions more if you have local tech staff at each school, rather than giving them domain admin and leaving them to manage that themselves.

Depends who you're with - I'm with Virgin and they had to cable it, so I told them the move in date and they arranged to come after then to run the cable and get it turned on. Would have thought you'd be extremely lucky to get it live on move-in day whoever the provider though.

Standard Office 365 MFA is free but you can't set up Trusted IPs (where you define an IP range and MFA is disabled for requests coming from that range) so without paying extra your choices are MFA all the time even when sat in school, or not at all.

Only enabled for admins at the moment. I want to roll it out to staff but we don't have the correct licence to allow for the Trusted IPs option, as I don't want people being asked for MFA while on site. If I can make a big enough case for it (or if we needed it for something else as well) I'd spend the money on the licences and enable for all staff.

Depends what you are wanting to do - shift document storage into the free cloud (i.e. OneDrive/Sharepoint or whatever the Google equivalent is), or just shift on prem virtual machines into Azure. Currently in the process of doing both of these, anything specific you want to know?
