Whoops, didn't notice the poster before me was into a bit of thread necromancy!

When we migrated (Engage to iSAMS) we just exported all the data to CSV, tidied it up (as it was a mess in places) and iSAMS imported. I think we also gave iSAMS access to Engage to move over anything we had missed (can't remember really, all I remember is we had to spend ages in Excel making contact addresses actually make sense - i.e. the post code in the post code field instead of in Address3/town/county/country as the old data was all over the place)

I started on a teletubbies one last week but gave up once I realised photoshop isn't installed properly on my PC, and that I don't actually have a clue how to do it in the first place

We don't have credits or charging, but we restrict page count per job with papercut (for staff: colour printing, for pupils: all printing) to try and stop jobs that should be going to reprographics. We used to have credits for pupils but we were giving out extras so often it was just not worth the time, and when they come saying they need more for "art coursework" - how are we to know who takes art? They pay enough in fees that I don't really care if the odd pupil runs up £10 of printing occasionally.

We have 3 racks, one rack has the UPS and from here C19-C20 leads feed out to the PDUs in the same and neighbouring cabinets. There's a 50A isolator on the top of the rack (as the UPS is hard wired), fed from the ceiling, so no trailing cables. UPS says we're pulling 11A total so could have done it all on a single plug top really but safer this way. Before I set that up, we had trailing cables into each of the 3 UPSes from switched fused spurs on the wall - each on their own 16A breaker.

Depends on how they are run. If you're lucky they will be routed in a way that your new location doesn't require the cable to be made any longer. Otherwise they'd have to use couplers to extend them, which is usually something to avoid - in that case I'd go with new cables pulled in from the cab.

Ask them whether it even exists - if it exists, there must be some sort of data protection or whatever rule to say they have to give you a copy. Or say you're gonna stop paying as there's obviously no contract, and you can't be held to terms that you don't know what they are. ...I did something really stupid. when I set up AADConnect about 4 years ago I picked a few specific OUs to sync from, basically Users and DistributionGroups. So of course a security group sat in the SecurityGroups OU won't sync. Moved it and it synced straight away, oops.

I found something saying they had to be Universal groups with a displayName and email address... I've done that and no sync. Although maybe I need to give it a proxyAddresses entry?

Has anybody managed to sync security groups to 365? Basically I want to add the staff group to permissions for some sharepoint sites. I don't want to make a cloud Staff group and then manually keep it up to date when we're already doing this with an AD security group. Alternatively some way to make a group based on the user's Department would work, if it kept itself up to date, but we don't want to buy Azure AD Premium just to get this single feature. What's everyone else to for staff sites in sharepoint?

How much later? Maybe I've not waited long enough (90 minutes since we paid so far), but I stuck it on the school credit card then instantly got hassled for an invoice or receipt by finance...

Hiya, Does anybody know how you get a receipt out of the VPP store? We just bought an app on the school credit card and all I can see is Purchase History which gives me a single line with the date, app name and amount. Nothing else like payment method etc that you'd expect on an invoice. From a quick googling around it looks like you can get a full invoice if you use the consumer app store, but absolutely nothing if you use the volume store. Kinda backwards... Cheers.

We have a "normal" account (no GPO restrictions and local admin on our own workstations) that we use day to day and elevate for anything needing admin rights on other machines (for remote server admin tools, I run servermanager.exe as a domain admin account using runas.exe, so all the tools within open automatically as domain admin) Wouldn't do general browsing etc on a domain admin account as they have full control rights to everything on the network, get hit by something nasty while browsing and you've potentially trashed everything - vs do the same with your normal account and you lose your documents and the PC.

I actually managed to get ours to work on Win 10 without admin rights (Lasercut 5.3), no idea how on earth I managed it as I tried and gave up several times in the past. Besides the software issue not really had any major issues with the cutter itself.

I don't have a song or anything like that, but I've spent the majority of the last 14 years here on old rubbish. I'm now on a 4th gen i7, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, but could desperately do with a decent graphics card - got some ancient Radeon thing to power my dual monitors and the right monitor flickers whenever I scroll through web pages

When we did it, we had to set the UPN to the same as the email we wanted (so the "Pre-Win2000 Logon Name" would be SCHOOLNAME\JBloggs, and the "User Logon Name" [email protected]). This way they can also log onto Windows using their "email address" (actually UPN which happens to be the same).

Interesting to watch coming from an Independent background (I was in state education up until Y6, then Independent, and I've only ever worked in Independent schools), while we don't have anywhere near the pastoral issues the school in this program has (we don't have any pastoral non-teaching staff really besides a full time nurse), there's definitely a parallel on funding albeit driven by fee income rather than what appears to be a randomly changing government funding formula. Eye opener really is what they said about this "extra funding for schools" only going to small primaries, with large secondaries still receiving cuts in real terms funding.
