That's only true if you have Power Factor Corrected (PFC) PSU's (which most servers have). However, most UPS'es are not PFC and will supply about 60% of the V/A-rating in Watts (ie a 1000VA UPS will support about 600 Watts).

True, but 27 degrees is well within the operational environment spec (at least of our Dell-servers). We purchase all our servers with a 5 year warranty and after those 5 years they are replaced. If Dell thinks that their servers won't run for 5 years in a 27 deg. serverroom, the operational environment spec would say the temperature had to be lower than 27 deg. In the 8+ years with our serverroom at this temp, we hardly had any hardware failures (maybe 3 failed HDD's in all those years!), so in my opinion, 27 deg is cool enough and saves a lot of energy!

25 to 27 degrees is cool enough for servers to run and saves you al lot of energy on the airco!

I had a Gravis Ultrasound II, a great card (at the time). It had half a meg (!) of wavetable-RAM. My first CD-Rom drive was a single-speed Mitsumi drive. If you wanted to change the Disk, you pressed at the front of the drive, de complete drive came out and then you could open the cover to change the disk. It cost me what today would be around € 300.-. Edit: Just found a picture of it:
