I have QNAP at home, a TS-420 and TS-119P II. I cannot fault them at all (touch wood), Synology does appear to be cheaper, feature wise I could find little difference just cost from my point of view.

Trust I used to be at was with Sophos but went back to McAfee!

Send on Behalf permission for User with no exchange account
MatthewL replied to error404's topic in Enterprise Software
I haven't touched exchange for a while might be messy but worth a look at checking the security permissions of the mailbox you want to send on behalf of in exchange and try adding the users in there and giving them send on behalf rights, a long shot but might work. -
I don't think there is a right or wrong way to do it, either would work.

Edge is a massive PITA printing full stop regardless of what devices you use. Publisher and Excel also store print preferences within the document so depending how it has been saved that can cause issues. My recommendation would be if you can force the driver to retain all print jobs and then release, not sure as I've never used this kit if its possible. The ideal solution would be to invest with PaperCut, its vendor neutral so can be used on what ever you have going forward. What you save you will pay for PaperCut with plus you can manage any other printer on the network too.

I would just set it so that the teacher cannot release jobs for the students group then they only see their own. You could set them up as release managers on the admin page (just rights for that area) and they could release the jobs that way if they wanted for the kids?

Not sure where to post so feel free moving it. Saw this post on Facebook earlier, had to share. First thing that will burn your eyes will make you notice and then the comment about a teacher. Sorry is anyone takes offence but put a smile on my face.

I presume users can only see their own jobs, the way you say it when they login they see everyone's? There is no way to remove the release all, unfortunate its something you will need to educate your users on. You can skip the front page when you login where it shows you device function, print and scan and it says print all there and on the Sharp's you can create a separate button for print release which will list the jobs. Not got a machine handy to try something on, let me know if you get stuck.

Got it in one there googlemad, I spent 8 years in the NHS and I've seen it all. Further up the topic there was mention of the N3 backbone, the ACL's on this network are quite strict which would prevent spread, it just happens to be a coincidence this. Also the network isn't as open as you think!

Papercut - Do you buy independent from MFD supplier
MatthewL replied to snagrat's topic in Network and Classroom Management
What I will say is that Sharp devices it's a web link used on the copier, nothing is stored on them and its the easiest to setup of all the machines on PaperCut. Lexmark now have integration on smaller desktop devices too, yes its Lexmark but the kit has improved and running PaperCut on smaller devices could be of use to some. -
PaperCut MF - show delegated print jobs on copier panel?
MatthewL replied to pete's topic in Enterprise Software
Think you have done everything right but I'm not familiar with PaperCut on Konica. The basics of it are you go into the user i.e. the Head's PA and tell it you want them to release the jobs for the Head's user. -
If you are logged in as local admin does it "install" as such as in the past it would recognise the dock, its not just having a moment as a user?

Lots of companies will want you to buy it all from them as it gets messy in terms of support. If it was me as a company I would quite happily sell you it with a view to helping get business later on down the lines but its a sale from my point of view. Selectec are the UK PaperCut re sellers so maybe worth getting in touch with them if another company doesn't want to play ball and they can help? -
Have heard from a few sources she was stood up but also that she didn't have appropriate attire for the trip in the first place weather that had any part to play?

I'm always dubious of buying from overseas especially large amounts like this. Sometimes I'd rather spend a little more just to get it in the UK. Interesting re Motorola, I have been waiting since Christmas for the Tab 3. In all honesty I don't know what I want. I was hoping the S2 would come down in price and was going to get that but its a little dated now and the price hasn't really dropped. I only want a modern tablet for internet and email when I am travelling rather than have a laptop. I would use it for a bit of work stuff as the tablet would be better than the device they laptop they give. Ideally something Windows is what I want but the Surface is well out of my league at the moment. Someone did mentioned AMD have upped their game with processes which makes their laptops a bit cheaper. Thoughts?

Looking to purchase the above for home, can't find anything other than a Surface that is of any use, there seems to be very few places to buy it online and all of similar price including Currys. Any recommendations for other online retailers worth a look at?

forenamesurname.co.uk/me.uk/uk and surname.eu/ltd/uk.com couldn't get what I wanted in that yet. Do have a few other domains but hardly used. forenamesurname.co.uk is the main one for me, had it years.

DC, DNS and DHCP on each site then if connection does go down you can still work. A MPLS cloud is ideal for this, connectivity between each site but internet connection if one of the links fails between sites.

Surely its just easier to put in a 24/48 port PoE switch?
-
I'd avoid at all cost and would always run another cable if needed, one reason why I don't run single ports anywhere. Don't forget if you do have to use them to use one at both ends, might sound stupid but I've seen people trying to just use one! Or if you cannot run another cable use a mini switch type thing, will me more reliable that these things but that is just my view.

Nextbase 312GW, I have one wired in front and back. Cracking bits of kit, be lost without mine now.

Paxton Net2 Pro - any known annoyances/design issues from an IT POV?
MatthewL replied to pete's topic in Physical Security
Fitting it does look quite easily but the integration to fire alarm I would leave to the professionals. If anything is affected by your work on the fire alarm you can be held personally responsible. You can set different things, I have worked in a number of secure locations that didn't have them release in a fire as certain individuals would escape. -
Is this any good?
