How did you go about getting the external antenna mounted at home? Is the router far from where the antenna is mounted? Following this with internet as BT offerings are poor ADSL only bearing in mind I am in a town but VM are in the area, have had lots of issues with this so looking to bin them off possibly if I can.

SADP is a handy Hikvision utility, as long as they have an IP address they generally work and gateway isn't too key same with network printers unless using say for scanning the camera work similar.

Does anyone here have one of these in their setup? It's the Algo SIP 8180. Do you have any issues with them, does the customisation work on letting you use your own sound file, anyone using with 3CX with any issues? They are not cheap and very few second hand it seems, anyone know of any cheaper alternatives?

Is there any thoughts to adding a VoIP/SIP/telecoms section to split it away from existing topics? More and more things come up relating to this now but no dedicated area and never sure where to put things related to this.

Where possible I wire everything and would go out my way to wire doors in if I had to, especially as some features like above do not work on wireless.

FYI PageOne were bought out by Capita and were a paging network but now do a bit of all sorts along that line, they are the only UK paging network left also. There will be plenty of other text providers out there, couldn't tell you which is best anymore to be honest.

Wired for anything like this all the way, anything security related should be wired in my eyes.

We have our server VLAN and various ones around that, each site has its own VLAN, internet only (guest wifi as such), voice, security systems. For me on a school site each building or area would be its own VLAN, don't segregate staff or students don't see the point. Areas that are heavy on network such as media put them on their own, if you wanted segregate off the admin office, printers are a must but only if you install your printers on a server and share off that way no direct printing and if using a print management you can keep control. Don't make it too complicated so that you are changing switch config all the time, we are just putting in 802.1x policies that will allow certain domains on but then chuck everything else on internet only.

I have worked in open plan offices with the rest of the organisation for years so don't really have a proper IT office, there are pros and cons of this and I don't mind it. The only thing we have is at the end of the desks is a TV although no used as we are not in that often now. When I worked at my first place we had a proper IT cave nothing special but worked. Normally day to day desks then a workbench on the side for working on kit rather than cluttering up the desk, also used for imaging but then we were lucky to get a dedicated room with aload of racking to assist with imaging too. As regards to a store room, cupboards with doors that close to keep it looking tidy, also don't keep stuff that isn't needed get rid. Good lighting and ventilation are a must, keep it tidy, if you have monitoring systems get a screen up as a visual, keep main desks clear where possible even if it is your desk just looks a bit nicer.

Each of the above want their own server really, also if any issues then it only affects said server and you do not take down multiple things for 1 issue.

Sharp all day long for me, user interface is much more better than the Kyocera although both integrate well with PaperCut if using that. I've got 40+ Sharp's sat around my offices at the moment, worth spending the extra if they are not the cheapest in my view.

Personally I would not integrate within Teams but see plenty doing so, I would either host own PABX with SIP trunks, you will save a fortune, don't necessarily have to have handsets on every desk but you can use softphones or client on mobiles. Ideally if you can have it hosted, only downside is the cost seems to be more but having it on site means you can still have internal calls if you internet goes down.

Printing, classroom management tool, device management such as Desktop Central to assist in updating machines etc, a service desk portal, backups, door access would be a few I would be looking at for starters.

I'm really curious to see what CAA rules these are or they think they are. I've worked on sites right next door to airports and there be loads of networks visable, several from each business. Unless they have just said it because they are not interested in the work?

These card readers are quite common with MFD's or slightly different model as some manufactures they don't work with. My go to reader is the RFideas one, the specific model is RDR-80581AKU, you can programme up to 4 types of card technology into it, different profiles and different copiers give different numbers with PaperCut so what I used to do was use the learn card function on the software and match them up that way. I installed hundreds of them to integrate with all sorts of cards but never had the same number as for example what Paxton produces. Any questions shout up.

I suspect its 2.4GHz interference too. Base station is in the living room downstairs and in the office/bedroom above the router is located there.

We use Aruba, although locally managed nothing in the cloud it works for us. I find them solid switches no extra licenses and just run and run. Just about to rip some aging Cisco ones out and put Aruba in at one site. I don't think I'd use anything else personally.

Not sure till I go at the weekend, its not on my door step to nip to. Cannot turn the 2.4 off due to legacy devices connected.

It is impossible to understand each other at either end of the phone and then if you can its broken until they move away. It's not line issues as that's over fibre its wireless inference and the landline is the main line (its an elderly couple).

So had a phone call last night someone I know their cordless phones have inference do I have any suggestions, they are BT branded from Tesco recently purchased for what ever reason I don't know. They are a quad set plugged into the ONT (KCom fibre internet and voice now over this), router is upstairs via a CAT5 cable, said router is a KCom Zyxel provided thing. Phones were replaced with these (reason for unknown) but if sit directly under the room with the router in they cannot use the phone and have to move away so my thoughts are on some inference from the router, never know it but do believe it's possible. It may not even be theirs but maybe next door but moving away from upstairs does make me wonder. Firstly has anyone ever come across this and other than changing channels either on router or phone any other tips before I go at the weekend and have a look.

I've still got one brand new sat in my store that was never used due to the first one been pants! Palo Alto never used but have good recommendations out there.

I would not recommend a Dream Machine Pro even if you have other Unifi infrastructure they are not what they are meant to be and I am in middle of pulling one out not used as our main but as an endpoint it's not worth the hassle. For me off shelf product would be Watchguard. Sophos UTM's are ok from what I've used but never myself deployed but have worked with them in place.

Air compressor would be my option, find get a good result providing its not too powerful.

4/10, must admit never my strong point plus too reliant on auto correct these days.

You maybe able to get 2 x 50ppm machines cheaper than a 90ppm machine so something to look at. Sharp have a feature called Tandem print where you can set the job off on one and half comes out each, so same capacity but 2 machines, added resilience and can use in single mode. I've seen it work out cheaper to get 2 lesser machines overall you would work out at 100 ppm.
