Capita have sort of done that one If another user has created the report and you are running version 7.168 or later of SIMS go to Reports | Design Report | Open Existing Report | Owners | Drag and drop the reports from the owner that is no longer at the school into an owner who is at the school. That owner can then delete the reports.

Last time I tried this (about 3 years ago) I found that I had to have different timetables for the different sites. so I had 2 identical copies of the timetable that we had to keep updating. The reason being that there are some things imported from SIMS into NOVA and trying to do that from 2 SIMS databases is more than NOVA can handle. I don't know with the emergence of MATS if Capita have amended NOVA since. You'll need to log a call with your local SIMS support unit for advice.

One other thought could be to have 2 timetables defined in NOVA, then apply the alternative timetable at the start of each week you wished to use the special classes, but you would have to maintain 2 timetables. I'd suggest contacting a NOVA-T expert at your SIMS support unit as this is likely to be a very specialised and probably expensive exercise.

You said "that is implemented, every few weeks", NOVA can only really cope with regular cycles, so if it occurred every 3 weeks you would have to write a 3 week timetable for it, if it is random as to how many weeks between occurrences then NOVA-T won't be able to help cleanly. You could set up a deliberate clash between registration and all other subjects that could potentially be swapped out then use curriculum management to move the students between clashing subjects at the appointed time, but you probably still be better off doing it in Alternative curriculum.

I had a case logged about this and I proved it by providing replication steps that did exactly the same thing on their hosted environment as well as both their training databases on our environment and the Capita analyst's environment. They investigated for a few months and eventually closed the call with this resolution "The Escalation team have advised that this issue is something which will be resolved in future releases of SIMS. I have been advised that this is a large piece of work to resolve completely, therefore it is not something we can confirm exactly which future release this will be included in - this is also something that cannot be patched to resolve."

Alternative curriculum would cope with that, it was designed for ad-hock events like the ones you describe.

Any changes you make in NOVA won't take affect until the next academic year. If you want to make changes to levels you need to do it in course manager after the start of an academic year.

You can create aspects to hold the Maths group and another for the English group then populate the aspects with the appropriate information and include these on your report (also you could then use these in Discover to generate Dynamic groups so you wouldn't have to keep the info up to date in more than 1 place)

Has anyone tired SIMS on Windows Server 2016 and/or SQL 2016. We have a school that is on a very old server running Windows 2012 (not R2) and SQL 2012 and they are wanting to replace the server. Capita doesn't officially support Server 2016 until Spring next year and SQL 2016 until summer next year but the school are saying they want to use them anyway. Evidence of it working or not would be helpful to see how hard I need to work at either delaying their upgrade or getting them to go for Server 2012 R2 and SQL 2014.

The problem sounds like you still haven't created a marksheet for the course, you refer to "But the 'Supervisor' column is still blank next to the year group marksheet in the template", you need a course marksheet not a year group one. E.g.

You need to create a marksheet for the course (e.g. History (KStg3)) then make sure the head of department is defined in that course in course manager. Additionally you need to add a filter and course link to your template, the filter would be year 9 and the course link would be the same course you created a marksheet for. (the course link isn't strictly necessary but is helpful when adding the class additional student column) Also note, it is not possible to assign supervisors of the Curriculum years in SIMS only the year groups.

Unfortunately not, but if you use the links menu on the right (the double green arrow if it's not visible) you can take the link to the student teacher view, then the link from there to Pupil details to edit data.

Try creating a report with the following parameters Data area: Student - Population: On roll Data Fields: Name & Reg; for contacts of each student where Relationship is Carer, Father, Foster Father, Foster Mother, Mother, Step Father or Step Mother and Parental responsibility is false: Relationship, Full name of the contact (copied from the report summary section on the left in SIMS) If that works then you can build in the additional fields afterwards

I've not tried it my self but I believe if in cover you put the teacher as only needing cover from 5 minutes in to a lesson then that allows the scenario you describe.

One other way would be to use the scheduled SIMS reports widget on the SIMS homepage. That way your report could run overnight and users just view the results by clicking the report they want from the widget.

If all schools use SIMS then you can use something like TeamViewer to create a VPN connection from a workstation to each SIMS server and run multiple copies of SIMS on the same workstation (multi connect.ini witht he TeamViewer IP address in place of the server name), 1 for each school (pulsar.exe /MULTIINSTANCE). That way you can just tab between them. One advantage of TeamViewer is you can try it free to check it works before buying it but I'm sure there are other products out there that can do the same, TeamViewer is just the one we use.

Which school phase are you? If you are primary then there are many more options. If secondary then you really need to decide what is important functionality to have, as nothing out there does everything SIMS can do, but most schools don't use (or in some instances know about) every thing SIMS can do. I.e. I've never seen a web based timetabling software package that works as well as NOVA-T.

What do you want to do in the web interface? Capita have lots of web and/or app products that can do a great many things without a user having to log in to the full fat client, and there are also plenty of 3rd party products as well.

Not sure what causes it, but when I've had similar in the past a server re-boot has sorted it 60% of the time. If that doesn't sort it then you'll need the more detailed error from the Windows event viewer to analyse the issue more closely.

To get an "empty" cell but colored in the reports is not possible with Assessment Manager Individual reports, however you can get pretty close. Create a grade type aspect with a single grade just containing a full stop character, add it in to your AM template to add a result of a full stop character and the appropriate color. Then on your report use this aspect and set the font size as small as you can (thus rendering the full stop character not visible)

Exclusions are not a field availbale to Assessment Manager Individual Reports. The only way to achieve this is to create an aspects and populate it with data from a standard SIMS.net report just before you generate the AM reports.

Yes all aspects will automatically update. If you use those aspects in any marks to grade formula in templates then they will NOT automatically update so you may need to run a report to look for them and manually amend those formula columns. You can still enter any grade in an aspect for the date that grade is valid (i.e. if you back date a result to the previous academic year you can still enter a grade that doesn't exist any more) and as long as you remember to take dates in to account when doing analysis it won't affect what you can do at all.

Yes, this is straight forward to do in SIMS, but if the Grade set has a lot of entries then it can be a little time consuming. You need to go in to the Grade set (Focus | Assessment | Grade set) open the one in question and add a new Grade set version starting today or some future date (you can put historical dates in but if the grade you want to remove has been used since that date you will need to remove it first). You will then need to define all the grades that you want to be valid from that date onward (unfortunately SIMS doesn't have a copy function for Gradeset versions so you'll have to re-enter them all again and just leave out the one(s) you don't want any more.
