Can some one give me an idea of how to take someone off the cover list once they return back after long term absence?

When I add an absence in the cover arrangements screen, it does not record any working days lost in the personnel file but the Cover Manual says that it will be calculated automatically. Also, the "edit absence" pop up window in cover arrangements does not appear as the one in the Manual illustration, it is a much simplified version with no way to add working days lost etc. Is this facility not part of the core sims package?

We have just moved to a new timetable, and the lesson times are correct in Lesson Monitor, however they are incorrect in Cover. Is there a way of changing the times of the lessons? Thanks Esker

Hi, I'm asking on behalf of someone else so I admit to not knowing much about the app. They are saying if we put a cover teacher in to a lesson the register then disappears from the iPad, but the other teachers would like to be able to access the register on the iPad so they can take it rather than the cover teacher. Is there a way around this at all? Thanks

I'm hoping there's a simple answer to this one! Our Cover Administrator has flagged up that she's currently unable to see the AM Reg period or assign cover for it. I'm not very experienced with Cover but she showed me the Cover Diary and I can sort of see the problem. We have a different registration system for 6th form and lower school - we do this as we're a joint 6th form with guest students. There is a defined Reg Period set up in Nova and Year 12 and 13 get assigned to these Reg Period 'classes'. Year 7 - 11 are registered as AM reg and they are not assigned to the Reg Period class. At the moment in the Cover Diary the 6th form registration shows up but not the AM registration session. But we actually need the reverse as the 6th form lessons are not covered. This is apparently a new problem, so it must have worked with our odd setup in the past. Any ideas on how to solve this? TIA

Anyone found a way to format the cover output nicely? Currently the cover person is saving the notice board view and copying that to a share but it still isn't quite nice. The actual html output is XML but of course there is no facility to adjust the CSS or XSLT. I am having a slight crazy idea that I may be able ot set up a system to read in the file and the apply an external stylesheet or transformation but I have a feeling this will be tricky! So anyone done anything elegant and simple or crazy?

Afternoon, Just wondering what people do with Cover staff from Agencies with regards to accessing the Cover work and delivering it to students from an IT perspective. Whilst it's been good during lockdown that every teacher has a laptop, it means that we are disadvantaged for Cover staff and iT provision. I mean disadvantaged in terms of not having static teacher PCs in the classrooms. This would be fine if we did. Supply/cover walk into classroom, login with generic username, access Cover Team resources for example. Already connected to Projector/sound. I thought an iPad would be good; already configured to access Cover Team from the TEams app, can connect to projector using lightening to VGA/HMDi and show the content. USe a bluetooth boombar for sound (we have a load of non-hdmi projectors still.) A quick test showed that this could possibly work, but the sound wouldn't play through the teams app. It played through every other app on the ipad, just not teams. I looked at everything I could settings wise. The other option is a laptop, but they have to login, go to the team, connect to projector using HDMi/Vga adapter maybe. Possibly duplicate screen to projector, and it all just seems like a massive potential IT overhead for the simplest of things. Not all cover/supply are overly IT savvy from what I can see! All staff will be member of the Supply/Cover Team and will upload cover work to the files area where the Supply/cover staff will access it and show to the class. Anyone have any workable solutions? Or solutions you currently use? I get what needs to happen, it's just how practical each solution is and how much overhead it will be. Thanks

Dear all, pretty sure I know the answer but suggestions are always welcome... We have an off-timetable (DofE day) coming up what is the best way to deal with just one year group off timetable and still have registers (the class registers would be all incorrect as they would be in form groups)? So far I have: Marked the classrooms as activity day in SiMs cover, and suspended (but not freed staff) using suspension rules. Is there a way to get SiMs to handle registers for form groups during the lesson times or do I just need to print off a paper register and make sure someone enters it at the end of the day? I have even toyed with adding a temporary class on Nova-T but I think that would be too much work. Thanks for any feedback! PS: is there a way to add a temporary class of any sort to cover? Like exam classes etc?

Can anyone give me a brief heads up on SIMS Cover (7 I think)? How good it is, ease of use etc. Currently we have a homebrewed solution that I have just had a call about saying they want to revamp it and add features. I want to get everything we can into SIMS but they are saying it is too tricky to use and re-rooming takes half hour. I think this is a crock but would like some supporting evidence. So over to you guys.
