Its a busy day for posting today! I have a student using Office 2007, on her screen the text looks like pt16 - pt18 but when highlighted the text size shows as pt11. When the document prints is does print at what looks lik pt11 but it acts as pt16 - pt18 on screen, with regards to the amount of space it uses on the on screen page etc etc. Any ideas? Dan

After my recent post about how great Censornet is, I have just come to logon to the box and the GUI web front end seems to have crashed, the internet is still available but I can't get onto the Web GUI. Ill try a restart to see if this fixes the issue. Dan

Hi, we have a few rooms that still have old RM computers installed, they have 15" Flat screen TFT monitors, the glass fronted model. Yesterday a pupil punched one of there and it has a very large smash mark all over the screen now. Does anybody know if I would be able to remove the glass and use the screen without it?? Dan

Hi, I work under the YHGFL Grid, and have had many troubles with Skype, it will connect but drops connections very frequently. Not sure if this is due to YHGFL or not, but it works fine at home so.... Dan

Morning People, To give you some intel:- A few weeks a go I was asked by our Dept Head to Install Smart Notebook 10, on all of the machines in school for Students and Staff to use. (As you can imagine I was not the most chuffed person) Anyway, I installed the software manually, over 2 days, onto all workstation in school. The software has been working well for many weeks now with no glitches, I never heard a thing back about the software, which in most cases, no news is good news, isn't it? Well I had a call this morning saying that Smart Notebook was showing a pop up when the program was launched, saying that it was not registered? I'm sure I registered the program when I installed it. After a bit of sneaky detective work, I found that the program was registered, and it was actually a Customer Satisfaction Survey that was popping up. My question to you is, how can I stop this happening centrally as I do not wish to go round all the computers and click "No" manually. To make it worse, the pop up comes up for every user that loggs on, the survey is not per machine its per user!! Dan:evil_twisted:

Hi, Lol thats kids for you, just change the perms on the folders that they can access, this should solve the issue. Check your backups just incase you get some kids with missing documents. Then when all is sorted get the pupils responsible and get a good punishment sorted out. Id call the parents in maybe. Then after the punishment, offer them a job helping you out as white hackers. We use Truancy Call and don't have many problems with it. I installed a new workstation for our attendance officer yesterday, Installed TC inputted the schools details and off it went. Easy Peasy... Dan:mullet:

Hi, as far as I am aware that is the current status, Office 2007 Docs can be opened in Open Office but as for saving, this is till not possible. But Open Office still has my vote, anything that good, with the added advantage of being free can't be half bad. Dan:)

Hi, We run a Sony SDX-1100X which has a native capacity of 400GB and a Compressed Ratio of 1040GB. We currently have a backup that is approximatly 522GB. You would think that it would fit on the tape fine, using either Hardware of Software Compression . You would be wrong, due to the compression ratio, we can only currently fit on 474GB, im guessing this is due to the Ratio at which the files are being compressed? If anybody has any info on how I can change the ration please post here ASAP. Dan
