  16. We gernally go for HP2015n's as their cheap and reliable, well untill the last few weeks they were. We have had 2 break down and had to be sent back to HP for repair. Other than those we use HP3005n and HP 1312MFP for single user. But this printer also has a fault. HP know about it but continue to sell it. We got one for our Maths Dept, Installed it, they liked it and used it for weeks, then decided rather than walk down stairs to do their copying in Repographics they would just use the Copy Button on the printer. OOPS nope its disabled and there is no where to enable it on the in build menu. Rang HP, they had the same problem with the exact same printer in their office. Sent it back, it came back today working as normal, with the additional menu for enabling and disabling copying lol. Dan
  17. Hey, I had the same problem, I was told from Adobe Support that if you install V9 from any other media other than their website that it can cause errors that will stop Adobe working correctly. Their solution was to roll back to V8 until the error with V9 was correct. As yet I have not had word back about when they plan to patch the error in V9 Sorry for the bad news, fortunatly 8 will roll out via RIS very easily. Unfortunatly for me, when I found out about the issue, it was too late I had just ghosted 500+ workstation with the same image that included a USB installed version of Adobe Reader 9. Boo whooo for me! Dan
  18. Hey, Try this method, Set a logon script to run at startup. Inside the logon script enter: " REM ----FILL IN SERVERNAME AND PRTSHARENAME WITH YOUR DETAILS---- REM ----BOTH MUST BE SAME ON ADD AND SET PRINTER---- REM ----ADD THE PRINTER---- RUNDLL32 PRINTUI.DLL,PrintUIEntry /ga /n \\SERVERNAME\PRTSHARENAME REM ----SET THE PRINTER AS DEFAULT---- RUNDLL32 PRINTUI.DLL,PrintUIEntry /ga /n \\SERVERNAME\PRTSHARENAME /y REM ----RESTART THE SPOOLER---- net stop spooler net start spooler " Otherwise if this is not what you are after you can add a local printer that is isn't local but is actually network connected. To do this follow the steps below: 1. Open Pritners and Faxes 2. Add a new local printer making sure to uncheck Auto Detect 3. Select create a new port 4. Select Standard TCP/IP Port 5. Follow the Add printer wizard through entering the printers IP address and printer details. 6. The printer will then be installed as a local printer but connected via Ethernet. 7. To print direct to the printer and cut out the spooler, right click on the printer you have just added and select properties 8. On the Advanced Tab, select print direct to printer, unselecting Spool Documents before printing. Dan ;-)

  20. Sorry guys, but as yet smart don't have a solution. To make things worse, today a room of workstation has stated to display that the trial period has ended even though when I installed the software, I made a point of making sure it was registered. Any Ideas? Dan

  22. Yep, we use Buffalo TS's and I find them expensive for what they can do. I would prefer to use DIY Kit, it would be easy to setup a decent Mobo with SCSI Card, 5 or 6 1TB Drives, and 2 1GB/s Nics teamed up for extra Bandwidth. Cheaper and probably less problematic. Unless you can afford the HP solution. Dan
  23. Get a box, install FreeNAS, install 5 x 1TB drives and set as what ever raid you like. Problem Solved... Dan:troll:
  24. Mmmmmmmmmmm SuperJanet we mere mortals can only dream of such service!!
  25. Hi, They have two load balancers, both decided they were masters which as you can imagine caused issues, a new proxy was released with the address of newproxy.yhgfl.net. The BT address secondaryproxy.bty-h.org.uk that normally resolves to proxy.yhgfl.net was stuck on resolving to that address, and not the new address newproxy.yhgfl.net. That is the reason they were asking people to flush their DNS in their proxies, to update the address that secondayproxy.bty-h.org.uk resolved to. Good old YHGFL. Dan
