My major reservation with the cloud is when the Internet goes down... which happens more than I like.

With the time it can take to migrate some programs and services (especially for those on 32 Bit 2008), I thought it would be wise to ensure this is on everyone's radar. Currently standing at just under 21 months time, but we all know how long it could take to prepare some extensively used servers (and possible compatibility issues) or to get funding!

Just to confirm, Microsoft Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 and Hyper-V Server 2012 also accept the update for Windows Management Framework, and then can be controlled via Windows Admin Center. A reboot though, is needed.

Just ran a search for this thread and couldn't find it because I was typing Windows Admin Centre... like a Brit. It appears devices that you connect to need to have Dot Net Framework 4.5 and Windows Management Framework 5.1 installed. This is fine for Windows 10 and Server 2016 as it comes out the box (or are deployed via Windows Update), but Windows 7, 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2 will require it.

Generally I haven't seen Business calendars, such as the one in Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365 auto populated with this information. Though I have seen personal Outlook.com and Google accounts with an additional holidays calendar option.

I believe if you give yourself access to their mailbox, then after a few minutes login to Office 365 via a web browser, you can then open their mailbox and then click on the Settings button, followed by Mail, and go to Accounts, Forwarding, you can disable it there. You can also just prevent auto forwarding outside your organisation by creating the following rule, and then when someone complains, point them to the fact it's a Data Protection issue and has been implemented due to the crack down with GDRP, and they need to remove their forwarder.

From what I have seen on the forum @NetSupportTechSupport is pretty good and speedy. It would be worth giving them a call or e-mail. Though @JimHew is right, the client can be installed on any machine, the server will validate the number. You can check how many clients your server is seeing by logging in and clicking the globe icon in the systray iirc.

Most suppliers wouldn't do anything with the device, they would just ship it out. The manufacturer wouldn't know what purpose the device will be used for, so it may not require encryption as it wouldn't with just Windows and the bloatware they install by default. Most companies would also wipe the laptops when they receive them, which would remove the encryption anyway. Unless you have a company that is placing a specific work image onto the laptop before shipping it out, I wouldn't expect it to be encrypted... but also... if they are encrypting it, they may also have the keys to unlocking it.

Well, I just installed XMA and Kodu on my Windows 10 x64 Education machine and it runs, and I can go into a world. So I would assume so.

Ironically Netsupport Notify... though if you have that installed... why do you need to run up and down stairs? I would just send them a message from my machine. We've also used Skype for Business and in the past ComAgent.

Branded computers usually have some telltale sign in the BIOS to allow the machine to auto activate if the correct version of Windows is installed. It might be visible when entering the BIOS. Though yes, usually there is a sticker on them, even if it's a cut down Windows 8 sticker with no license key.

Remind me, why do we install updates again? I thought it was to fix problems, but obviously this isn't the case.
