It's when creating a new windows domain by installing the domain controller services, rather than just a stand alone server that you need to be careful. I would suggest a subdomain of your web domain name. So, for example, a windows domain of lan.schoolnamehere.county.sch.uk, since if you ever want to get a certificate for that domain, it will be a lot easier.

Strange... haven't had that issue myself. Seemed to work fine on 1709, and 1804 doesn't appear to be different.

In my experience, the default ISO (English) is US, the English International one defaults to GB.

Regarding 1803 and VLSC. I can confirm that the ISO for English International is now available.

I would point out that Spinrite works on repairing that single drive itself and not coping data off, so if there is a terminal fault with the drive, excessive use of the drive might be for naught, where recovery to another drive may at least give you some data. Still, an excellent, old and trusted tool though, mostly now heard through legend, passed from technician to technician.

We've all had it in the past, a machine which is running some important software or stores useful data and tools and... the hard drive goes and the data or partitions becomes corrupt, possibly with a lovely tick, tick, tick sound, and for whatever reason, what a nightmare, there is no backup! What free or paid for software would you recommend in this day to do a recovery? Another question, in this day and age of GDPR, do you know any software that would work with an Encrypted Drive? (BitLocker, McAfee, VeraCrypt, etc.)

I was just reading this and thinking... we all talk about courses and learning, etc, which is all well and good for the actual knowledge part... but we, and most articles online hardly discuss taking the exams to prove to others you know what you are doing, and what is the best way to about this. Have any of you done your own learning for a Microsoft, CCNA, CompTIA, etc Exam, and gone about booking it on it's own? Do you know any good IT Professional Exam providers where you can just book your exam? Do you have any little known tips and tricks for exams or getting the best prices?
