  1. that would be silly - why wouldn't they be governor9@
  2. Yeah - if he isn't an employee then he isn't going to get a timetable - however i'm guessing that as the timetabler hasn't screamed - there's two copies of this person on your sims, one has a personnel record and one has a user record. to get around requiring the patch you could just create a new user based off the personnel record (this is the "recommended" way of doing it) and then deal with deleting the redundant user later. Do this only if you need a quick resolution.
  3. So you're doing this entirely outside of SIMS? An excel file and a word document? how did you achieve the "many to one" mail merge trick?
  4. A good excuse not to renew and change company?
  5. my code for percent attendance straight out of my powerbi report Percentage Attendance YTD = iferror((Attendance[Present]/Attendance[Possible])*100, 0) works fine for my dual roll kids - even those with 0 sessions possible this year.
  6. Can you give us an example of what your report is trying to achieve? There's the ability to filter out rows in subreports already - maybe that's the solution?
  7. How does a school refuser come up as blank? Shouldn't they be getting continuous unauthorised absences? As for the dual roll students - I include the "sessions possible" in my calculations to deal with them.
  8. silly question - not so much from a legal point of view as a practical one. very nearly every kid has a smartphone and up to the point they enter the school building they are happily taking pictures/selfies with them. now they go on a school trip - does the school confiscate every phone for the duration? Is this even practical? Don't get me wrong, I'm a strong proponent of GDPR etc, but any law that is unenforceable is probably stupid or being misunderstood.
  9. what personal data are you providing to this company?
  10. the joys of safeguarding. Personally I think this should have always been happening, I don't believe we're discharging out duty of care simply by dumping them at an Alt-Provision and forgetting about them. This increased focus makes us consider a bit more closely on what is going on.
  11. There is in that the alternative provision should be keeping an attendance register using THEIR management information system - they could then share this with you?
  12. I stand corrected and will now have the fun job of amending some of our Dual roll kids. Code D: Dual Registered - at another educational establishmentThis code is not counted as a possible attendance in the School Census. The law allowsfor dual registration of pupils at more than one school. This code is used to indicate thatthe pupil was not expected to attend the session in question because they werescheduled to attend the other school at which they are registered. The main examples of dual registration are pupils who are attending a pupil referral unit,a hospital school or a special school on a temporary basis. It can also be used when thepupil is known to be registered at another school during the session in question. Each school should only record the pupil’s attendance and absence for those sessionsthat the pupil is scheduled to attend their school. Schools should ensure that they have inplace arrangements whereby all unexplained and unexpected absence is followed up in atimely manner. Under pressure from our attendance team (of all people!) to record the absences so that we would have the evidence so fines/letters can be issued.
  13. intranet! have you got one? If not make one. It wouldn't be too hard to code it to publish the content of the email.
  14. legally you're doing it correctly. If they are present at the alternative provision then they are coded "D" (which doesn't count one way or the other against your attendance). If they are absent then you can mark them as absent at your end. technically the alternative provision should be able to provide you with % attendance figures if they are recording the attendance for you.
  15. We've had this error every year since I've been here (effectively since we've had SIMS) - there is absolutely nothing wrong with the contracts section that we or anybody else can see.
  16. how about using the date filters to copy the entire table you start with but ONLY the rows that fall within the date range specified? Then you can use all your current filters for sub groups etc on the new derived table. gotta admit it's a bit brute force but can't think of how else to do that.
  17. have you assigned them to a pathway?
  18. GDPR is a bit of a non-issue in this case - it won't stop you anonymising their record.
  19. We're on server 2019 since half term and touch wood it's been fine. It'll be a pain to go back - that said our migration was done by our sims support company and they didn't bat an eyelid about it being 2019...
  20. I've found that our senior leadership team suffered from it more than most - it resolves itself when we log them out of SIMS on all but the computer they are using to take the register. Certainly worth a try.
  21. When we set up our Google domain it was fairly painless to get people to move anything school related to their new school account (email was handled via MS Exchange still, google just redirected everything) - this was more their google drive stuff than email but the same principle applies. A quick word for me about safeguarding and liability got them moving sharpish. They are still allowed to do things like lesson plans on their personal accounts - but nothing concerning staff/pupil data is allowed on there. This is simply so they've still got their personally made resources when they leave - can't complain about that.
  22. I dream of seeing a real live ATF
  23. you can report on previous school history - running this on year 7s is a good proxy for a CTF log.
  24. I did this using Adobe Fireworks but even MS Paint could do this.
  25. ok, so it's a relational database at heart, so you'd extract all the aspects you need (against their resultsets if needed). If this has to be in separate reports then that's fine. the magic bit is that you're gonna need a unique primary key (so one of admission number/sims person id/upn depending on personal preferences), this will then allow you to link the various results into a new table (query) that exists only within powerbi. Then I report on that resultant table - comparisons become a doddle.
