Am I right in thinking that the BT Infinity FTTC network uses Huawei equipment? I’m sure I remember a lot of controversy about that? Funny that BT are quick to blame EE for choosing them for the 4G network but suspiciously little mention of that.

I’m currently exploiting the loophole that means I keep my 16-25 railcard until about 3 days after my 27th birthday... But I will then definitely move to this new card!

Possibly. They're run by the London Transport Museum. I signed up for the newsletter so got early access to the tickets but I think general sale is tomorrow morning! Not cheap but I think worth it for the chance to explore somewhere normally off limits!

Just managed to buy some tickets for the Hidden London tours I've hoped to get on for years. I am fascinated by the secret areas of the London Underground and so I've got the chance to go through all the closed off areas of Charing Cross, and the closed station of Aldwych. Really looking forward to it!

The "trackpad" option has been probably the best use of 3D Touch on the iPhone so far IMO. So handy. Probably why it then came to iPhones without it using this method in iOS 12.

Yep, I believe the Ricoh Mac driver is PostScript. We had MP C3003s until a few months ago and never had a problem. I’m just wondering if there’s either an alternative driver that uses another language or I guess finding out how to install PS on the printer!

Hi all, Losing sanity over this issue, so thought I'd post this here to either see if my suspicions are correct or if there's a solution out there. We've got our Macs set up using Open Directory which all works well enough. However, we're getting complaints that Powerpoint seems flaky (i.e slow, file corruption, or the application crashes) over the network when saving back to and loading from home folders stored on the Thunderbolt drive attached to the server. For context, the server is a late 2013 Mac Pro running macOS 10.12.6, with a LaCie 2big Thunderbolt 2 drive storing the data. This is connected to the network using two ethernet cables in link aggregate to our core switch. The room is linked to this switch via gigabit fibre, all iMac late 2013 models running 10.12.6 also connected to the switch on gigabit ethernet. Now, one thing that makes me think the use is just not appropriate is because the file sizes are 300+ MB. There's even one I've seen that's 1.2 GB! All with a lot of photos usually dragged into the application and dropped into the slides. A common issue that does seem to happen is that the files lose said photos and leave the placeholders with the rID2 relationship error message. This is something that seems to happen occasionally to files saved locally (not ideal I know but I was pressured for workarounds) which leads me to think, are these files just too big? If not, what can we do better besides getting an even faster storage drive and potentially getting a 10Gbps link in between the server and the switch the clients are on? Thanks!!

Not a fan of this announcement. I feel like they're too focussed on big names to draw people in rather than finding people who can present an entertainment programme about cars well. It's a shame Rory is getting pushed to a side role, he's exactly what I think Top Gear needs, along with Chris Harris. The last series was definitely at its best when allowing both him and Chris to focus on the cars (thinking particularly about that episode based around Japan).

Should be easy enough to do with a bootable installer USB, and wiping the disk first. But yes, I'm not sure what version of macOS came initially on the 2018 iMacs but usually they won't go below whatever the first version was the model shipped with. Bit of a pain, but as @3s-gtech says, think the hardware compatibility is only built into the version that's current on release. Think that's even down to minor updates too.

The question mark folder is saying that it can't find the OS, which obviously it won't as it has a new drive in it! Odd though that it doesn't seem to be able to find Internet Recovery though. Does it prompt you to connect to a network at all? If not, have you got a bootable USB installer of macOS? If so, worth checking that it comes up if you hold Option (alt).

An exceptionally rare event! I think I saw that this may be only the second crewed launch ever to end up with an abort like this. Soyuz particularly has had a good track record, although recent events aren't great with this and the hole in MS-09 causing the leak. There's whispers around that Roscosmos is starting to struggle. Commercial Crew launches are close to reality but I don't think NASA will want to take the risks of rushing them through in order to provide service to the ISS as soon as possible. Both SpaceX and Boeing need to do an unmanned launch to the station first to certify them for a crewed test. The first Dragon should be ready to go, as it's being slated for first launch towards the end of the year, but I've heard the Boeing design is a bit behind now. The main concern currently is what to do about the crew still up there. Soyuz ships have a limited life in orbit, so realistically, the one currently up there can only go until about December. They could either leave the ISS unmanned if there are no crew launches by then, or potentially send up a new Soyuz unmanned, which could potentially end up having the same issues if there is a quality control issue here, but at least wouldn't have crew put at risk. Launch is still by far the greatest risk in terms of spaceflight. An interesting tidbit from seeing Chris Hadfield speak last week, he talked about Peggy Whitson, the USA's currently most experienced astronaut at around 666 days in space and three missions. At 58 years old, over 50% of the risk to her life that she has experienced has come from those three launches, which in total is about 27 minutes.

So far so good then? I really want to get my home Macs onto it but as they're now the oldest devices supported, was a little worried! But if the upgrade is as good as iOS 12 has been to the iPhone and iPad, then I'll definitely make the jump.

My condolences and a huge amount of sympathy. I lost my Jess two and a half weeks ago now and I know exactly what you’re going through. She was definitely more than just a dog to me, she was family. We kind of grew up together over the last 12 and a half years and things just won’t be the same without her. Still, lovely to see the fond memories you have of your Jess! She seemed well loved indeed!

In fairness, I think it’s being promoted as a good thing because Channel 4’s contract with F1 ends at the end of 2018, so this is more than they were originally going to have. Sounds like Sky have cut them a deal.

Especially from East Anglia, very easy to get off at Stratford, short journey on the Jubilee line and there. Of course, I know what Greater Anglia are like with running trains at inconvenient times.

I set up a profile in it as a test and put it on the Mac I use for testing stuff, so far so good. Definite advantages over Profile Manager for managing the dock.
